As Associate Director, Scientific Collaborations, you will identify the opportunities and establish the partnerships that are critical for the future of vaccine development. This role will focus on evaluating emerging technologies, critically assessing collaborative opportunities from U.S. academic, commercial, and government agencies, helping advance GSK vaccine research and development priorities. Key Responsibilities: This role will provide YOU the opportunity to lead key activities to progress YOUR career, these responsibilities include some of the following: Balance and prioritize multiple responsibilities to proactively support global Vaccine and Infectious Disease R&D portfolio through identification and assessment of new and emerging concepts, technologies, and disease targets Lead cross-functional matrixed teams to evaluate opportunities based on technical merit and provide distilled data and insights into project design to GSK stakeholders and senior leadership Establish networks across key U.S. research organizations, keeping an up-to-date mapping of Vaccine R&D research opportunities. Assist with organization of workshops and meetings to support targeted engagement Represent GSK at conferences to stay apprised of trends in vaccinology, emerging areas of science, and critical advances in biomedical research relevant to infectious diseases research Why you? Basic Qualifications: We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals: Ph.D. with at least 5 years of experience in a field relevant to vaccine discovery/development (e.g., immunology, infectious diseases, molecular biology, biomedical engineering) First-hand experience identifying innovative technologies across multiple scientific disciples and evaluating based on scientific rigor Experience engaging and communicating with internal and external stakeholders and senior leaders In-depth understanding of the US academic research landscape with experience in identifying and developing academic collaborations Demonstrated history of thinking and working with global colleagues and external partners Preferred Qualifications: If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus: Global mindset with experience building strong and effective internal and external relationships Broad knowledge, experience, and interest across a variety of Vaccines R&D related fields Ability to rapidly assimilate and evaluate technical information at a high level on a broad range of scientific topics relevant to vaccines R&D Previous history working within academia, government, and industry R&D environments are a plus Ability to think critically and creatively to anticipate and solve problems Ability to navigate and be successful in a highly matrixed work environment Ability to interact and communicate effectively with senior executive teams #LI-GSK Please visit GSK US Benefits Summary to learn more about the comprehensive benefits program GSK offers US employees.
