Associate Director, Senior Architect

Job Summary 

The Associate Director, Senior Architect - Reporting and Analytics, will collaborate with IT functional leaders, industry experts and vendors to identify, qualify, drive adoption, implement and deliver technology and service solutions that achieve business operational outcomes and strategic goals. The Associate Director will coordinate across various shared services groups within IT and other IT functional areas to successfully align, integrate, operate, and enable new and existing capabilities for Otsuka and our affiliates. The Senior Architect core responsibilities include: 

Technology and/or Service Domain, Platform management and oversight Business Process and Technology Strategy Technology and/or Service Management and Optimization Subject Matter Expertise Portfolio Advisory and Management IT Connector Vendor Management

Job Description 

The Associate Director, Senior Architect will collaborate with IT functional leaders, industry experts and vendors to identify, design, qualify, implement, operate and drive adoption of technology and service solutions to achieve business operational outcomes and strategic goals. The Associate Director will coordinate across various shared services groups within IT and other functions to successfully align, integrate, and enable new capabilities for Otsuka and our affiliates. 

Core Responsibilities include but not limited to the following: 

Technology / Service Management: Collaborate and partner with the business, IT Leaders, and vendors to design, implement, enable and support strategic technology, service programs and projects.  

Manage business and IT Business Partner expectations, ensure alignment to business requirements and technology/service standards. 

Business Process and Technology Strategy: Define the technology strategy for SAP Data Analytics in alignment with strategic business goals and objectives. Build business case for implementation of IT technology/service initiatives. Create and own appropriate implementation plans, roadmaps – timeline s, ownership roles, milestones, etc. 

Technology/Service Analysis: Direct and oversee Architects, Technical Managers, Managed Service Providers, Contract Workers to conduct technical/service reviews, enhancements and delivery.  When applicable, the Senior Architect will partner with Business Partners in gathering requirements, decompose abstract and complex details/concepts into business and functional requirements, develop business cases with defined solution recommendations, evaluate and qualify opportunities, and define measurable business outcomes and ensure alignment with industry and internal standards.  

Subject Matter Resource: Provide technology/service management expertise and working knowledge to assist in evaluating, implementing and optimizing process and execution.  Maintain awareness of industry trends and provide recommendations to facilitate decision making and have knowledge for three or more functional areas. 

IT Connector: Understand who to engage for internal IT products/services to achieve business value. Know IT strategic platforms and drive business partners towards ‘standard’ platform solutions. Provide IT leadership updates on new IT products/services relevant to domain. 

Own and manage SAP Data Analytics and Reporting. 

Act as design authority for the BW4HANA/Datasphere/SAC/PowerBI solutions 

May require up to 50% Hands-on work. 

 

Qualifications 

Knowledge/ Experience and Skills: 

Minimum 15 years’ experience in SAP BW/BW4HANA/BI required, with good SAP Datasphere knowledge Minimum 5 years supporting multiple front ends. SAC, AFO, Analytics Cloud for excel, PowerBI etc.  Minimum 5 years’ experience supporting HANA databases, S4HANA embedded reporting Minimum of 8 years of Life Sciences experience required, with 5+ years in supporting specific function area(s) in an IT customer facing role. Experience with Agile methodology. Good understanding of SDLC/ITSM processes Ability to self-train and adopt newwe technologies Insights and knowledge of leading technology trends and best practices which are improving the processes and strategic decision making in supported areas.  Working knowledge of key processes within the relevant business area and various regulations governing the pharmaceutical industry. Broad business and IT capability awareness with hands on experience using or implementing domain specific technologies, applications, service management skills. Experience working with globally distributed business and IT teams, especially in Japan, EU and India. Superior presentation skills with the ability to influence, drive action and strategy including ability to effectively interface with all levels including senior leadership with demonstrated executive presence. Working technical knowledge of integration strategies, including Cloud services, IaaS, PaaS, SaaS Exceptional analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving abilities 20% travel is required, based upon business needs. 

Educational Qualifications 

Minimum of a bachelor’s Up to 10degree; preferably, a degree in Computer Science, Engineering or adjacent fields. Advanced degree in in sciences, business administration, or pharmaceuticals is optimal.
