Associate Director, Senior Product Owner

What is the opportunity?

This opportunity at RBC will allow the Senior Product Owner to collaborate with Capital Markets business partners; work closely with business architects; elicit requirements and develop documents for IT applications, system specifications and test plans, according to existing standards and methodologies.

What will you do?

Developing documents for IT applications, system specifications and test plans, according to existing standards and methodologies; eliciting the requirements needed to carry out business processes including interviews, intelligence analysis and survey assessments.

Translating business needs, processes and procedures into a workable system, and articulating on specific software requirements by communicating about these requirements with technology experts and business stakeholders.

Working closely with business architects and other technology staff to deliver project results while implementing risk analysis and meeting required deliverable.

Collaborate with Capital Markets business partners to understand business problems, priorities and business impact

Prioritize work for business impact, push back on business if scope of work does not fit planned priorities or work effort does not justify business impact; accurately document processes and detailed business requirements; present use cases that capture critical functionalities

Suggest tactical and strategic approaches to solving business problems; ensure business has signed off on requirements to prevent scope creep; ensure architecture and development teams understand business problems and requirements; work with UI/UX teams to ensure a streamlined user experience; support and participate in user acceptance and PIV testing

Coordinate with Change Management team to ensure new functionalities are communicated to business users in a timely basis; post-delivery management: assist with training and roll-out; proactively follow up with users to ensure they are aware and understand functionalities and capabilities; and obtain feedback post roll-out; work with business and developers to make additional changes / enhancements as needed create presentations that adhere to Capital Markets strategies and solutions and present to the business

Prioritize work based on business impact and ensure work is aligned with planned priorities and all work is logged in appropriate tracking systems (Workfront, BOW Trackers, JIRA)

Ensure all enhancement requests are discussed and approved by Product Owner / Program Manager and limit the scope creep

Manage business expectations; proactively escalate roadblocks and delays to Product Owner, Head of Business Architecture, and business stakeholders in a timely manner; support innovation by participating and supporting in POCs to evaluate new technology solutions for the business

Must Have:

Demonstrated ability to communicate, negotiate, influence, and arbitrate competing priorities within a diverse set of user communities and stakeholders

Strong decision making, outcome driven, influencing, and executing changes while supporting employees through the process and keeping them focused on business priorities

Strategic acumen and Delivery excellence; self-managed and results-oriented with sense of ownership

Excellent oral and written communications skills; organizational skills needed to handle multiple, parallel assignments

You will accomplish this by teamwork, having a can-do mindset with a hands-on approach and focus on details; you will need to be an expert level organizer to resolve things in a structural manner that provides clarity and direction. You are not afraid of challenging the team on technical details and be able to think functionally

The Good-Faith Expected Salary Range For The Above Position Is $135,000-225,000 Depending On Factors Including But Not Limited To The Candidate’s Experience, Skills, Registration Status; Market Conditions; And Business Needs.  This Salary Range Does Not Include Other Elements Of Total Compensation, Including A Discretionary Bonus And Benefits Such As A 401(K) Program With Company-Matching Contributions; Health, Dental, Vision, Life And Disability Insurance; And Paid Time-Off Plan.
