The Associate Director, Solid Form Development oversees group leaders and scientists with the primary functions of solid form screening and optimizing the solid form of drug candidates. The incumbent will lead a diverse team of scientists and will efficiently manage scientific efforts and resources to ensure the attainment of objectives in a timely manner. The Associate Director must effectively communicate with the site management team and customers with the highest professional standards.

Essential job duties
Provide leadership and efficient management of the Materials Science and Particle Engineering groups by setting objectives, continuous performance assessment, mentoring, and individual development as appropriate Lead technical groups consisting of scientists and group leaders in conducting multiple simultaneous projects requiring a wide range of problem-solving skills with strong commitment to customer expectations Allocate resources for the Materials Science and Particle Engineering groups according to site priorities Identify and develop new business opportunities and client relationships Provide clients with properly scoped proposals for solid form screening and crystallization process develop projects Support all other technical groups at the site with implementing strategic regulatory and scientific solutions for pharmaceutical development projects Provide expert scientific review of highly technical reports for clients Recommend and implement procedures and techniques to increase the quality of solid form screening services Ensure that the Materials Science and Particle Engineering groups consistently comply with corporate and site operating procedures, including GMP regulations Ensure that laboratory operations are continuously conducted in a safe manner according to Curia Environmental Health and Safety requirements Regularly interact with other Curia colleagues (including sales, marketing, procurement, etc.) to provide the best possible service to clientsEducation, experience, certification and licensures
Required Ph.D. in Materials Science or Engineering, Physical Chemistry or related field Minimum 8-10 years’ experience in the GMP pharmaceutical industry, including 5 years in a managerial rolePreferred Direct experience in solid state drug development
Knowledge, skills and abilities
Expertise in the interpretation of solid state analytical data including XRPD, microscopy, spectroscopy, thermal analysis and knowledge of wet chemistry principles Extensive knowledge and working experience in solid state drug development Knowledge of cGMP regulations for the pharmaceutical industry Excellent written and verbal communication skills Strong leadership skillsSalary: $134,000 - $167,700/yr.
