Associate Director Accounting (Payroll)

Job Details:

SUMMARY:  This Corporate Accounting position in the payroll area is responsible for providing strategic and tactical leadership needed to maintain timely and accurate payroll. 

Responsibilities include:

Manage Payroll Accounting Activities, Payroll Controls, and Audits.Partner with other departments on new and existing corporate policies and processesManage the weekly payroll processing.Provide timely, complete, and accurate reporting to internal and external customers.Manage SAP related payroll configuration and system integrations.Complete system related updates and creation of operational reports.Support acquisition efforts from a payroll due diligence, data gathering and integration prospective.Resolve payroll related issues for team members, HR, management, and plant location personnel as needed.Ensuring Company objectives are met and in line with payroll industry benchmarks.Ensure consistency and application of federal, state, and local tax guidelines.Special projects as needed.

REQUIREMENTS:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in an academic field directly related and essential to this job (Accounting or Finance degree preferred). 

Experience: 7+ years related experience preferred

Computer Skills: Working knowledge of SAP and advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word, and Outlook.  Must be able to analyze requirements presented and convert to practical applications used with various payroll systems, payroll projects, controls, process flows, system/process integrations, accounting processes, etc. 

Communication Skills: Excellent written, presentation and verbal communication skills.  Will liaison with many other departments and must be able to articulate interactions and impacts of projects to payroll related systems and processes.  

Special Skills: Certified Public Accountant preferred, but not required.  Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation preferred, but not required.  Previous experience with HR and payroll processes, payroll and labor laws, payment/deduction laws, garnishment and overpayment laws, multi-state/local and federal tax withholding and reporting, and SAP configuration is preferred, but not required.

Supervisory: Supervises 6 direct reports.

Travel: Possibly 6-10 domestic trips per year
