Associate Director - Business Operations

Actual compensation will depend on a candidate’s education, experience, skills, and geographic location. The anticipated wage for this position is $111,000 - $162,800 **Responsibilities:** BRD is a multidisciplinary organization, focused on the development and commercialization of parenteral formulations of small molecules and large molecules such as monoclonal antibodies, novel therapeutic proteins, and peptides. Positioned within BR&D, this role will lead the operations and vendor management for external analytical vendors. They will partner with the BRD management team and cross-functionally to provide aligned vendor management for on-site professional services. This position is tasked with implementing strategically aligned development, validation and testing plans for assets through external vendors operating under the PRD quality system. The individual manages the timelines, contracts and deliverables with the vendors and coordinates with the Lilly team on the timely execution of the projects. The individual is responsible for the management of performance metrics of the vendors and the communication of the scorecards with the 3rd parties. The key responsibilities for a business/operations Associate Director or Director may include: + Works with BRD, PD and other functional leadership to manage the activities at 3rd party vendors. + Support analytical, development, manufacturing, and other sourcing strategies by providing input and capability development needs at collaboration partners. + Lead creation of SOW (scope of work) for BRD and to create RFP's and communication plan with vendors. + Manage program budgets, POs and invoices from vendors by effective communication between vendor, finance and CMC PM teams. + Manage the collection of performance metrics of vendors by collaborating with the technical staff and address gaps and seek continuous improvement through leadership management with the vendors. + Manage the vendor interface effectively and be the single point of contact for the vendor and the Lilly technical staff for issue escalations and challenges. + Work with functional SMEs to translate complex technical challenges and issues into actionable goals and deadlines for effective communication and management with the vendor. + Manages business requests for new vendor identification and works with other Lilly functions to initiate and complete vendor qualification and onboarding. + Build a strong vendor partnership through effectively managing JST at a leadership level, managing collaboration platforms, and promoting technical staff and leadership alignment between vendor and Lilly staff. + Manage conflict and problem resolution. + Help streamline operations and drive efficiencies day to day on projects for the team and help improve the overall capability and capacity of the team. + Attend project team meetings with collaboration partners as needed and lead weekly meetings for sourcing discussions and decisions. + Ensure efficient and thorough data and information sharing. + Drive business process improvements and learnings across projects to improve productivity and robustness. + On selected assets without full teams, act as a responsible leader managing external work. Engage with LCCI as necessary. + Partner with quality on generation of technical and quality memo requirements and quality agreements. Employ a quality mindset in all endeavors. **Basic Qualifications and requirements:** + Formalized training in biology, chemistry, pharmacy, formulation, chemical engineering or life sciences with a BS or MS. + BS requires at least 8-10 years and MS requires at least 6-8 years of related experience and/or MBA with at least 2-3 year experience + Demonstrated ability to think broadly, lead boldly and manage change. + Excellent oral and written communication skills; able to communicate clearly and succinctly with Sr. leadership as well as peers and staff. + Experience in project management, six sigma or kaizen.
