Posting Number S-3475 Position Number 76870 Type of Recruitment External Position Title ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR/CLINICAL EXPERIENCE & PATHWAYS Position Summary The Associate Director of Clinical Experiences and Pathway Programs is responsible for ensuring effective partnerships and high-quality clinical practice are consistently embedded throughout the Educator Preparation Programs (EPP) and provides guidance for clinical educators of initial and advanced EPP programs. The Associate Director serves as the primary liaison to B-12 schools, community organizations, and other EPP partners to develop mutually beneficial partnerships, diverse field experiences, and professional learning opportunities for candidates participating in EPP programs through pathway programs. The Associate Directive oversees all facets of the student teaching internship, including the supervision and coordination of university supervisors. The Associate Director is also responsible for coordinating, evaluating, and tracking program impact for PK-12 school, district, and ISD partnerships using student benchmarks of success. Required Qualifications Master’s degree in education or related field.
Five years of PK-12 teaching or administrator experience.
Experience supporting teacher candidates in clinical placements.
Ability to perform occasional evening and weekend work.
Ability to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation. Preferred Qualifications Master’s degree or higher in education.
Experience delivering professional development and/or instructional coaching.
Experience with educator preparation accreditation.
Experience in higher education and with clinical experiences.
Experience with PK-12/school/district/ISD partnerships. Duties & Responsibilities Coordinates all educator preparation clinical placements, including global, out-of-state, and related student field experiences.
Works with the office of Educator Preparation Programs (OEPP) staff, faculty, and advisors regarding Student Teaching Eligibility.
Provides direct supervision, hiring, and evaluation for Fixed-Term Faculty members serving as university coordinators in the field.
Monitors EPP innovative pathway programs and additional endorsement offerings regarding clinical requirements and professional dispositions.
Ensures all legal requirements are addressed through affiliation agreements and university policies.
Implements established evaluation protocols to assess the effectiveness of pathway partnership programs which includes, but is not limited to surveys, direct observations, and focus groups.
Assists with a skills building program for teacher candidates enrolled in pathway programs to support professional dispositions.
Collaborates with educator preparation faculty as a member of the EPP Shared Governance Committees as assigned.
Facilitates and maintains effective high-quality partnerships with PK-12 schools/districts/ISDs.
Co-chairs the Clinical Practices Advisory Board with the Director of Educator Preparation; responsibilities include the recruitment of stakeholders, attending annual meetings, and generating committee reports for CAEP accreditation.
Collaborates with the Associate Director of Assessment and Accreditation to ensure all clinical experiences meet accreditation standards and assists with both alignment and reporting.
Responds to and develops reports required for accreditation in relation to educator preparation clinical experiences.
Collaborates with and reports to the Director of Educator Preparation.
Provides leadership for and supervision of OEPP clinical Office Professionals.
Supervises the daily operations of the OEPP in the absence of the Director of Educator Preparation.
Participates in recruiting events such as community college visits and Fire Up Fridays.
Serves as a representative of undergraduate educator preparation clinical experiences for state and federal level organizations such as the Michigan Department of Education (MDE), Directors and Representatives of Teacher Education Programs (DARTEP), and the Montessori Accreditation Council for Teacher Education (MACTE).
Serves as the point of contact for all background check concerns and offers support for teacher candidates in understanding their responsibilities for remaining in the program.
Completes all MDE submissions for documentation of clearances for teacher candidates.
