Associate Director - Development & Manufacturing Procurement

The anticipated wage for this position is $122,250 - $179,300 Lilly is looking to add to our Procurement team. Development & Manufacturing Procurement supports mid/late-stage development, clinical trials, and the commercial manufacturing functions for Lilly’s R&D portfolio. This is accomplished by working closely with business partners to carry out the sourcing and production strategy for the Bioprocess Research & Development, Device Delivery & Connected Systems, Synthetic Molecule Design & Development, and Clinical Supply Planning & Delivery organizations. This position will lead the sourcing process from strategy development and supplier selection through contract negotiations and ongoing relationship management. The person in this position will coordinate and lead the RFP process to enable competitive bidding among suppliers, as well as use market knowledge and analysis to create a stronger and more agile supplier base for the categories under management. This individual will provide sourcing support for Development spend in a variety of categories, including analytical services, container closures, design/engineering services, devices, drug product & drug substance manufacturing, printed packaging, and raw materials. You will love being a part of Lilly! **Key Objectives:** + Support Lilly’s molecule and device development requirements by working directly with Development leadership, Supply Chain, Finance, Quality, Project Management, External Sourcing, Procurement, and other functions to accomplish medicines development objectives. + Work with scientists and engineers to identify and support sourcing projects that reduce risk, timeline, or cost and make valuable contributions without sacrificing quality. + Lead and negotiate the supplier contracts and use contract knowledge to confer with business partners if issues arise. + Maintain and implement a category sourcing strategy consistent with the staffing plan and strategic priorities of the business. + Lead the RFP process and consult on the supplier selection process by using sourcing strategy development, market analysis, supplier negotiations, and relationship management. + Build and maintain knowledge of dynamics in the global pharmaceutical development and manufacturing markets. + Maintain supplier relationships for manufacturing operations, partnering with internal and external partners to drive source flexibility, risk assessments, and mitigations. + Streamline procurement practices, communications, and other relevant processes to ensure activities are sustainable in a growing supplier network. + Consult with business partners on procurement policies and procedures. **Basic Requirements:** + Bachelor Degree in Procurement, Engineering, Supply Chain Business or related field or Bachelor Degree in any subject area with relevant industry experience. + Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience preferably in core sourcing abilities – account management, sourcing strategy development, spend analysis, sourcing, contract negotiation, and supplier relationship management. + Qualified applicants must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. Lilly will not provide support for or sponsor work authorization and/or visas for this role. **Additional Preferences:** + Understanding of compliance policies and how they affect third party relationships. + Ability to network and influence across all levels of management and across organizations. + Ability to manage and prioritize work independently. + Prior development and/or manufacturing sourcing experience. + Understanding of pharmaceutical development processes. + Experience in research laboratory and/or manufacturing environments. + Knowledge of cGMP operation requirements. + Validated skills in contract negotiation leading to cost savings. + Experience in pharmaceutical devices or design/engineering services. + Understanding of commercial law and contract terms and conditions. + Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite & SAP/Ariba. **Other Information:** + This is a full-time position located in Indianapolis, Indiana. + Flexibility to support sites in multiple time zones is required. + Travel percentage: 10-15%; international travel required.
