Summary\:

The Associate Director is a critical member of the academic Department of Finance. The Department offers Finance, Financial Planning, and Real Estate undergraduate majors, three master’s programs, and a PhD concentration.   The Associate Director works with the department Chair, program directors, and faculty to maintain smooth functioning and day-to-day operations of the Department.

The Associate Director oversees the administrative operations of the Department and supports various department initiatives and events. In particular, the Associate Director provides budgetary oversight and manages department purchases, supervises student workers and officers of three student professional organizations; recommends office policies and procedures, works closely with the Chair, and full-time faculty on outreach programs to external stakeholders including alumni and professional organizations; coordinates departmental student events, academic seminars,  and conferences; assists with content management of the department website working closely with the Fox Webmaster;  and performs other duties as assigned.

 

Required Education & Experience\:

Bachelor's degree with at least three (3) years of experience that includes demonstrated successful interaction with the business community, preferably in an academic setting; substantial and progressively responsible event planning and management; fiscal planning and budget management. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

 

Required Skills & Abilities\:

*Knowledge of planning, production and management of large, small, high profile, and less-formal events for diverse and distinguished guests.

*Demonstrated ability to formulate creative ideas, and to analyze, evaluate, and negotiate details reflective of a successful event.

*Demonstrated project management skills, time management, and organizational skills, with the ability to manage details of multiple and complex projects within firm schedules.

*Fiscal and budget management knowledge and ability to manage and monitor department and event budgets, anticipating costs of production, technical, and promotional needs.

*Excellent communication skills sufficient to express ideas and agreements concisely and persuasively, both orally and in writing, to a variety of constituencies.

*Ability to address complex issues utilizing a clear, thoughtful manner, and to come to resolution quickly without jeopardizing the event or relationships with people involved.

*Demonstrated proficiently in Microsoft Office Suite

*Demonstrated ability to multi-task, including the ability to manage multiple projects and events simultaneously and efficiently, meet deadlines and achieve executional excellence.

*Strong interpersonal skills along with the ability to effectively interact with executives, all levels of management, staff, faculty, students and alumni.

*Demonstrated ability to manage various types of events, including student workshops and conferences and events for over 200 people, coordinating hospitality, promotion, logistics, follow-up, etc.

*Attendance is infrequently required for evening and weekend events.

This position is assigned a hybrid work arrangement (on-campus and remote), the duration of this hybrid work arrangement is at the discretion of Temple University and the Department.
