The Opportunity
This position works out of our Alameda, CA location in the Diabetes Care division where we are focused on helping people with diabetes manage their health with life-changing products that provide accurate data to drive better-informed decisions. We’re revolutionizing the way people monitor their glucose levels with our new sensing technology. 

As the Associate Director IBP, you will have the chance to lead and drive ADC strategy, scope definition and value proposition for product-portfolio operations. You will work on Integrated Business Process (IBP) Product / Portfolio Management and will be responsible for managing the on-going monthly review cycle, which requires specific actions from Day 1 to Day 30. Report project status and progress to ADC Management. Define, implement, monitor and improve business processes in support of project management.

What You’ll Work On

Responsible for implementing and maintaining the effectiveness of the Integrated Business Planning process.

Act as a point of contact for IBP process reporting and updates. Identify and drive implementation of improvements to the Product Management IBP review.

Drive improved accuracy in reporting of product milestones (launch and discontinuation dates)

Coordinate and collate Product Portfolio and Integrated Business Plans, critiquing and challenging assumptions, risks and opportunities.

Facilitate project managers through the project management and IBP process; ensure cross-functional team is working within process definition for reporting to Sr. Management. Resolve project team conflicts and project data integrity.

Interface with the Supply; Demand and IR process teams to ensure alignment and consistency

Maintains Divisional Product Management Schedule for the division by scheduling meetings and preparing agendas

Facilitates strategic decisions on issue resolution and gap closure

Elevate and work to resolve key issues arising from the Product Management IBP and Division StageGate processes

Prepare and collate Key Performance Indicator (KPI) reports as required per the IBP and Division StageGate processes

Formulates, harmonizes and consolidates project scopes, plans, strategies, and budgets for one or more projects, working closely with functional Project Managers and other Subject Matter Experts from R&D, Commercial, Clinical, Regulatory, Quality, Manufacturing, and other functions.

Confirms the ongoing strategic rationale and value proposition for projects.

Ensures Division-wide thinking and problem-solving are incorporated into project execution.

Liaise with other Project Owners, functional managers, and management to prioritize activities across programs to balance resource availability, program deliverables and schedule, and business needs.

Accountability / Scope / Budget

This position is responsible for strategic scoping, value definition, and successful and timely implementation of product portfolio.

This position is highly visible and accountable, responsible for liaising with management in driving alignment on key decisions and reporting to senior management project status.

Accountable for driving scope, budget, and quality tradeoffs, not only for a given project, but across projects in conjunction with other stakeholders to optimize portfolio value creation.

Incumbent has limited direct fiscal responsibility for departmental expenses, but has indirect responsibility, along with departmental budget holders, for ensuring that functional budgets are consistent with project scope and plans.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in a discipline appropriate to the project or an equivalent combination of education and work experienceMinimum 10 years of related work experience.Has successfully led several high complexity projects from beginning to end.Demonstrated technical skills and management judgment appropriate to the project.Demonstrated expertise in PM tools and processes.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with Product Portfolio Management and, new product introductionAdditional cross-functional experiences in the areas of R&D, Commercial, Clinical, Regulatory, Quality, Supply/Demand planning and/or Manufacturing, are desirable.   Strong interpersonal skills and a demonstrated ability to work and negotiate with a wide variety of stakeholders at all levels of the organization and across variety of departments to align plans and resolve conflictProcess-oriented thinking, focused on continuous improvement and lessons learned; have demonstrated ability to define and implement complex and interdependent business processesStrong leadership, influencing, and negotiation skills.Ideally the incumbent has general knowledge of regulations and standards related to medical devices (eg FDA, ISO, QSR design controls.)

The base pay for this position is $146,700.00 – $293,300.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
