For the health of our university community, the use of smoking, vaping or tobacco products is prohibited on CSU grounds or in buildings Position Summary The Associate Director of the Livestock Veterinary Service at the CSU Veterinary Health System, Clinical Services will serve as the leader of a diverse unit responsible for teaching, service and research in livestock medicine. The Associate Director’s responsibilities will broadly include leadership and vision for the service, oversight of teaching and clinical service programs, administrative commitments, outreach, stakeholder relations, and faculty support. The Associate Director will be a strong leader with a deep understanding of the livestock industry and veterinary training. The Associate Director must be able to foster relationships with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders, provide vision for the future, and facilitate strategic growth. The Associate Director will participate in clinical service and either teaching or research, be passionate about training the future generation of veterinarians and able to sustain and grow opportunities for the service. A joint appointment in the Department of Clinical Sciences may be negotiated. A signing bonus may be considered for successful candidates. Essential Duties Job Duty CategoryAdministration Duty/Responsibility Leadership: + Develop collaborative vision for the future of Livestock Veterinary Service, DVM student training and resident training at Colorado State University with faculty, staff and other stakeholders. + Develop strategy to achieve vision and lead strategic initiatives. + Build the reputation of the Livestock Veterinary Service and educational program. + Build and maintain relationships outside CVMBS , e.g. with producers and referring veterinarians and with the College of Agricultural Sciences and Cooperative Extension. + Collaborate with Department of Clinical Sciences Department Head, Executive Director of Clinical Services, Director of Clinical Education and Large Animal Medical Director to meet mutual academic, teaching, and research goals. People: + Provide visible leadership and service direction. Build positive and respectful relationships to ensure staff and clinician engagement. + Build cohesiveness across livestock medicine and surgery and between other units of the VHS and department. + Identify alternative and future staffing needs, and participate in the justification for those positions and identification of resources. Clinical service: + Support clinicians as they provide care in the hospital and in the field to a variety of patients and clients. + Support clinical service faculty as they advance and improve the quality of our DVM and house officer training programs. + Collaborate with Large Animal Medical Director to maintain and improve quality and consistency of care. + Provide leadership to increase funding to support all facets of clinical services.
