Collegiate Sports Provide academic, personal support, instruction and guidance to Division I intercollegiate student-athletes at the University of Vermont. Perform needs assessments to identify resources to holistically support student-athletes. Support the goals and activities of the Department of Athletics Student-Athlete Success program. Demonstrate commitment to social justice and diversity.

Supervise and provide leadership monitoring academic progress of student-athletes. Oversee the assessment of academic needs on an on-going basis. Consult and develop support plans for first-year and “at-risk” student-athletes. Communicate both internally and externally as appropriate regarding needs and progress.

Provide guidance and deliver specialized academic, personal, and career support to individual students from selected teams. Oversee design and implementation of student-athlete development programming and curriculum.

Determine strategies and implementation of workflows for the academic services unit including class absence procedures, course registration, progress reports, and NCAA academic eligibility, and other processes as needed.

Oversee primary communication and interaction with campus student services units, Academic Success Programs, Registrar, Student Accessibility Services, and Office of International Education, First Year experience and orientation. Develop and deliver specialized units for first-year student-athlete orientation sessions, ensure integration of First year experience programming with student-athlete development curriculum, and facilitate summer registration for incoming first year international and domestic students.

Oversee data management for academic progress, NCAA continuing eligibility, and conference awards programs. Determine strategies for improvement and oversee design of department academic reports to influence University academic service and department goals.

Bachelor’s Degree in Counseling, Education or a related area with three years’ experience working with college-age student-athletes. Knowledge of demands on student-athletes for NCAA Division I athletics program. Effective communication skills, both written and oral.
