Associate Director of Communication & Digital Engagement - Enrollment Management, Office of the Provost
The Associate Director of Enrollment Communication and Digital Engagement is a versatile communicator who leads the digital engagement strategy for the departments within Carnegie Mellon’s Office of Enrollment Management. The associate director will cultivate effective relationships with divisional partners to identify opportunities for digital outreach and engagement with prospective and enrolled students and families. Opportunities include but are not limited to social media platforms, virtual events, digital recruitment applications (i.e., Niche, CollegeBoard, Scoir), websites, video/audio scripts, email marketing, and advertisements.

Reporting to the Executive Director of Strategic Communication, the associate director, in partnership with the university’s central communications and marketing team and Office of Admission staff, shapes digital recruitment strategy and delivers effective content that aligns with the university’s brand. The associate director will work with the Executive Director and other team members to evolve and adapt digital channels and strategy to ensure targeted audiences are reached. The associate director will also work closely with partners on the planning and execution of virtual events and webinars.

Core responsibilities include:

Assists the executive director in development and execution of enrollment management communication strategy and initiatives.Develops and executes digital marketing and communication strategies to enhance prospective student recruitment and to increase engagement for enrolled students and families.Partners closely with the university’s central communications and marketing division to ensure consistent representation of the university’s brand across media and digital platforms.Stays informed on the latest technology and industry trends to drive innovation in digital marketing initiatives.Plans, develops and executes virtual recruitment events and collaborates with other departments, schools and colleges on developing and marketing online event opportunities.In collaboration with other team members, builds and implements a social media content strategy for Enrollment Management through research, benchmarking, and message identification for key audiences. Produces social media content on a regular basis and monitors social interactions.In collaboration with the Welcome Center team, works with CMU’s Student Ambassadors to produce digital content including managing and publishing student blog submissions, generating content ideas, and collaborating on and scheduling social media posts, reels, takeovers, etc. Captures and analyzes web and social media metrics, insights and best practices and then uses data to improve and increase effectiveness.Generates, edits and publishes website content that builds meaningful connections, encourages target audiences to take action, and eases navigation and information finding for students, families and campus community members.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s in communications, marketing, journalism or related degree required.At least 3-4 years of demonstrated work experience (preferably in higher education) in communication or marketing.Excellent organizational, communication (written and verbal), and interpersonal skills.Demonstrated ability to manage and organize multiple projects simultaneously.A combination of education and relevant experience from which comparable knowledge is demonstrated may be considered.


Preferred Qualifications:

Experience using Technolutions Slate or a similar CRM so we may train the candidate expediently on the use of Slate.Understanding of data-driven marketing and communications strategies.Experience using Drupal or similar content management system to maintain admission-related websites.
