Reporting to the Associate Vice President of Alumni Relations, the Associate Director of Digital Engagement and Alumni Services provides leadership and consulting in the areas of digital strategy, online technologies, data processes, reporting, and business operations. This position also manages a staff of one, with oversight of alumni service functions such as the help desk, operations, and alumni benefits program. This position works closely with Alumni Relations team members, University Marketing and Communications, and UNIT to create a world-class online engagement experience for the Villanova alumni community. The incumbent also works closely with our Data Governance and Solution Design teams to ensure the proper stewardship of alumni data, as well as the development of high-level data visualization dashboards. The Associate Director is also responsible for the direction and execution of projects relating to technology solutions, with a focus on scalability, usability, and integration.

Duties and Responsibilities: Acts as a consultant and provides guidance to Alumni Relations colleagues on digital strategy, online technologies, user experience, information architecture and brand voice. Works collaboratively with partners in University Advancement, University Marketing and Communications, and UNIT to conceptualize and produce dynamic, constituent-centric content and maintain a vibrant presence across Alumni Relations digital engagement mediums including web, social media, email marketing, newsletters, virtual programming, etc. In partnership with University Advancement Data Governance and Solution Design teams and UNIT, helps to create and implement policies and procedures to ensure data integrity, accurate data collection and updates. Establishes and tracks key performance indicators, goals, and metrics for digital properties to drive direction and optimize engagement. Recommends and improves high-level dashboards for the Office of Alumni Relations, including the Alumni Engagement Metrics report for CASE and the event ROI report, to aid in broader business decisions. Oversight of operations and planning for Alumni Services, including activities for the Alumni Association Board of Directors, alumni help desk and customer services, and execution of alumni benefits and services. Leads, motivates, and directs the work of one (1) staff member. Provides objectives, goals, and gives regular feedback. Manages performance, as necessary. Proactively stays abreast of best practices and new technologies for digital engagement and alumni services, and develops and delivers training programs for AR team, volunteers, campus partners, etc. as they relate to digital engagement initiatives. Other duties as assigned, and leadership with special projects as needed. Minimum Qualifications: A bachelor’s degree is required. 5-7 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have experience in prioritizing work and handling multiple priorities, strong organization and workflow/project management skills, and the ability to delegate effectively. Commitment to the highest standards of excellence and ability to engage in ongoing process improvement. Can work independently and autonomously yet collaboratively. Ideal candidate will be a self-starter, a problem solver, and an innovator. Must understand the strategic role of technology in higher education. Ability to utilize technology to advance the strategic direction of the department and the University. Demonstrates the ability to organize, analyze, and visualize data for use in decision making. Must possess strong attention to detail, superior written and oral communication skills. Knowledge of digital engagement mediums such as e-mail marketing, website and social media required. Must possess the confidence and maturity to develop and nurture relationships with alumni, senior-level administration, and colleagues across the University required. Knowledge of general office equipment, including personal computers, word processing, Excel, Access and or other spreadsheet programs required. Preferred Qualifications: Masters degree preferred. 3 to 5 years of experience in communications and/or project management is highly desired. Experience in alumni relations, communications, or development is also desired. Knowledge of Salesforce, advanced Office Suite including PowerPoint, Airtable, Forms, and using CRM technology, PeopleGrove, Stova are preferred. Management experience desired. Knowledge of Salesforce or other CRM software preferred. Physical Requirements and/or Unusual Work Hours: Must be able to manage multiple tasks independently in a fast-paced environment.
