Purpose

Leads the on-going implementation and development of technology infrastructure, support, and services for OnRamps, a signature initiative serving thousands of students at scale. Effectively leads highly skilled and successful technology teams to meet organizational objectives in close collaboration with the Executive Director, executive leadership team, and unit leadership

Responsibilities

Leads and revises a strategic plan for technology infrastructure in OnRamps that addresses needs for scale and efficacy. Participates in program-wide efforts to establish priorities, implement standards, promote process improvements, and increase efficiency and effectiveness. Identifies opportunities to leverage new and existing technologies to meet educational, operational, and financial goals of the organization. Oversees new projects and organizational function in distance learning and instructional technology.

Ensures security, accessibility optimal use, cross-platform integration, cost effectiveness, performance, and scalability of technology products and services. Researches, prices, tests, and recommends new technologies and product enhancements, and supports the procurement process as needed. Develops product requirements, documentation, and reports for internal and external audiences. Oversees development and enhancement of student information system and other complex IT projects.

Leads cross-departmental development projects that impact OnRamps as an organizational unit that require high-level management, decision-making, and coordination across multiple teams within the organization, across departments, and other units at the university. Leads projects and teams across institutional departments to develop new tools, products, and processes for organizational improvement and longevity, including administration of the learning management system and delivery of the website.

Ensures effective implementation of customer support products and services for thousands of end users, including efficient and effective delivery of the highest quality customer experience. Establishs policies, procedures, time-to-resolution goals for customer service teams across the organization.

Leads the OnRamps technology team through use of effective recruiting, training, and evaluation strategies. Analyzes workflow, establish priorities, develop standards and procedures, assign and monitor work, and set deadlines to ensure a high-quality work environment and accomplishment of organizational objectives.

Works with vendors, university offices, and extra-university stakeholders to ensure performance, integration, and security of technology infrastructure across organizations. Develops and maintains positive vendor and partner relationships. Reviews contracts, monitor communication, and ensures timely receipt of vendor and partner deliverables.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree.

Demonstrated leadership in a dynamic work environment.

Ability to lead, manage and mentor project managers, software developers, process architects and knowledge managers.

Demonstrated experience developing and maintaining a collaborative, engaged, service-oriented, results-driven culture.

Experience facilitating work groups to design or transform business processes, general work processes, or related skills.

Demonstrated ability to translate complex or technical terminology and concepts into easily consumable form for varied stakeholders.

Experience managing contracts with software vendors and implementation consultants.

Five or more years of progressive experience in systems development and support.

Experience developing and using metrics to improve processes and support decision making.

Excellent written, verbal, relationship, and presentation skills. 

Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

Master's degree.

Previous experience working with UT Austin computing systems.

Demonstrated effectiveness negotiating and partnering with groups with different interests and conflicting needs to achieve a satisfactory outcome for all parties.

Experience leading multiple teams.

Experience with operational or project methodologies such as agile or DevOps.

More than eight years of progressive experience in systems development.  

Salary

$115,000 + depending on qualifications
