Job Description
 

Gilead's mission is to discover, develop, and deliver therapies that will improve the lives of patients with life-threatening illnesses worldwide. As Associate Director of US Pricing Strategy and Insights within Gilead’s Managed Markets, Oncology team, you will be the subject matter expert for US pricing and market access research insights for the Oncology portfolio.  In this role, you will lead pricing-related workstreams and recommendations to senior leadership, supporting Global Pricing for in-line Oncology assets within Gilead’s portfolio. You will partner with the early-stage pipeline pricing teams as needed and act as the subject matter expert on current US pricing trends to inform annual WAC adjustments and pricing of new-to-launch molecules.  Additionally, you will partner closely with the Oncology brand, Finance, Legal, and Global Value & Access teams, as well as other Managed Markets functions, to ensure that our Market Research insights provide value to the business in answering their most important Access-related questions, while ensuring US pricing assumptions result in appropriate recommendations to the business.

This role requires leveraging a broad and deep skill set, including intellectual curiosity, knowledge of therapeutic areas, communication skills, influence over diverse stakeholders, and executive presence, to help drive success.

This position is based on-site (3-days a week) in Foster City, CA.

Responsibilities:

Provide US Market Access assumptions to Global Pricing Models, including pricing, payer coverage, and GTN implications for near-term launches and in-line oncology portfolio assets

Lead pricing insights and act as subject matter expert on current US pricing trends to inform annual Oncology WAC adjustments, IRA, and PDAB assumptions

Partner with Cross-Portfolio Pricing and Insights liaison to inform real-time price tracking and competitive price benchmarking via third-party vendors

Work with Commercial Insights and Data Analytics teams to generate additional pricing and access insights for branded projects as needed from HCP and Patient insights, claims data, demand forecasting, and trade data

Conduct relevant pricing and trade-related market research, including primary and secondary data insights, and incorporate internal experience to inform recommendations across a variety of stakeholders

Foster a collaborative team environment that thrives on shared goals and accountability.

Leadership, Influence, and Communication:

Recognized as a US pricing and access subject matter expert, sought after for guidance on decisions impacting pricing and market insights

Fosters cross-functional relationships with a diverse group of stakeholders, including VPs, Executive Directors, Brand, Marketing, Finance, Managed Markets, Legal, Government Affairs, Global Value & Access/Pricing, Competitive Intelligence, and IT, ensuring smooth collaboration

Expertly navigates organizational intricacies with professionalism and diplomacy. Guide without explicit authority, confidently advocating for the methodologies shaping pricing and access assumptions,

Manage external consulting resources effectively to ensure successful project delivery.

Essential Duties and Job Functions

Strong communicator who can guide Brand Leads on defining assumptions, monitoring key performance indicators, and recommending changes to achieve brand and sales goals

Define the appropriate methods, techniques, evaluation criteria, and quality assurance protocols for National Analytics & Forecasting

Develop and implement customized tools to innovate and streamline forecasting processes to match needs and market-specific dynamics

Ability to assume full responsibility for the accuracy and reliability of complex analyses, including forecasts and ROI analyses

In-depth knowledge of pharmaceutical data sources (e.g., Symphony Health, IMS, etc.) is needed

Understanding of the pharmaceutical/biotechnology industry and experience forecasting similar products or therapeutic areas is highly desired

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree and Ten Years’ Experience

OR

Masters' Degree and Eight Years’ Experience

OR

PhD and Two Years’ Experience

Preferred Qualifications:

Balances exceptional technical expertise with strong strategic thinking and practical business orientation

Able to distill complex information to essential knowledge and persuasively present it to all

Experience in Oncology is highly desirable

8+ years of relevant experience in sales/marketing analysis, statistical analysis, or financial forecasting in the pharmaceutical or biotech industry

The salary range for this position is: $191,335.00 - $247,610.00. Gilead considers a variety of factors when determining base compensation, including experience, qualifications, and geographic location. These considerations mean actual compensation will vary. This position may also be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, discretionary stock-based long-term incentives (eligibility may vary based on role), paid time off, and a benefits package. Benefits include company-sponsored medical, dental, vision, and life insurance plans*.
