RTX Corporation is seeking a highly accomplished Associate Director of Production Test Engineering to lead and drive the strategic direction, execution, and continuous improvement of our production test engineering function. This role integrates advanced manufacturing process improvement strategies with test automation, yield enhancement, and data-driven decision-making to optimize production performance. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in test engineering, manufacturing process improvement, and leadership, with a track record of driving yield improvements, efficiency gains, and quality enhancements in high-mix, low-volume defense or aerospace production environments. As a key strategic leader, you will work cross-functionally to develop innovative test methodologies, improve production processes, and ensure operational excellence, aligning with corporate goals and industry best practices. What You Will Do Test Engineering Leadership & Strategy: •  Lead and manage the Production Test Engineering function, ensuring alignment with manufacturing and business objectives. •  Develop and implement innovative test automation and data-driven strategies to improve reliability, throughput, and yield. •  Oversee the design, deployment, and optimization of automated and manual test systems for electronic, electromechanical, and RF systems. •  Establish and drive the test engineering technology roadmap, ensuring scalability and modernization of test platforms. •  Collaborate with design, quality, and operations teams to integrate Design for Testability (DFT) and process control improvements into production. Manufacturing Process & Yield Improvement: •  Serve as the lead authority on manufacturing test yield improvement initiatives, driving cost reduction and quality enhancements. •  Utilize Lean, Six Sigma, and Statistical Process Control (SPC) methodologies to optimize test station efficiency and reduce defects. •  Drive process standardization and best practices across programs to improve first-pass yield, reduce cycle time, and enhance test coverage. •  Lead Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and Corrective Action processes to mitigate failure modes and improve production performance. •  Implement data analytics and predictive maintenance to enhance test reliability and manufacturing agility. Cross-Functional Collaboration & Execution: •  Act as the primary test engineering representative in manufacturing readiness reviews, failure review boards (FRBs), and continuous improvement initiatives. •  Work closely with design engineering to ensure new products meet manufacturability and testability requirements. •  Provide technical leadership in supplier qualification, hardware debugging, and troubleshooting complex test failures. •  Foster a collaborative environment across geographically distributed teams to drive seamless integration of test and manufacturing processes. Operational Excellence & Leadership: •  Lead and mentor a team of test engineers, project managers, and process improvement specialists, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation. •  Manage capital and operational budgets for test engineering and process improvement projects, ensuring optimal resource allocation. •  Develop and deliver executive-level presentations on test engineering initiatives, yield improvement strategies, and manufacturing efficiencies. •  Stay ahead of industry advancements in test automation, Industry 4.0 technologies, and digital twin integration to enhance manufacturing resilience. Qualifications You Must Have •  Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 12 years prior relevant experience or an advanced degree in a related field and minimum 10 years experience. •  Experience with Product Test Engineering •  Experience with Manufacturing Engineering •  Experience in a leadership role •  Experience with Lean Manufacturing •  The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance. Qualifications We Prefer •  Exhibits outstanding communication skills at all levels, adept at articulating strategic visions, facilitating clear and concise dialogue, and fostering an environment of open and effective communication. • Expertise in automated test equipment (ATE), RF/microwave testing, digital/analog functional test methodologies, and test automation platforms (LabVIEW, TestStand, Python, C++). •  Strong background in yield improvement, Six Sigma methodologies (Black Belt preferred), and manufacturing process control. •  Experience working in defense, aerospace, or high-reliability electronics manufacturing environments (e.g., MIL-STD, AS9100, DO-254). •  Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams, mentor engineers, and drive data-driven process improvements. •  Deep understanding of SPC, RCA, failure analysis techniques, and predictive analytics for test optimization. •  Strong project management skills with experience leading complex, multi-site test engineering initiatives. Experience leading multi-site global test engineering teams and high-mix, low-volume production environments. •  Knowledge of RF test methodologies for radar, communications, or sensor systems. •  Familiarity with digital thread strategies, model-based test engineering, and AI-driven predictive maintenance. •  PMP, Lean Six Sigma Black Belt, or other process improvement certifications. •  Active security clearance or ability to obtain one. Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance employees, as they are essential to the development of our products. The salary range for this role is 147,000 USD - 295,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
