Position Summary The Associate Director to oversees the collaboration and development of transfer agreements, pathways, programs, and policies between partner colleges, and other community colleges in the Portland Metro area and PSU from October 1, 2024, through September 30, 2028. Under the principal investigator’s and co-investigator’s direction, this role supports both the program’s deliverables and broader academic partnerships between PSU and community college partners.

The Associate Director of Transfer Student Success reports to the Executive Director of Student Success and PI of the ACCE program. The Associate Director provides institutional leadership and coordination of academic transfer partnership agreements, programs, and services to improve transfer student success, including identifying evidence-based practices to improve student success outcomes. This position includes assistance with identifying and maintaining curricular pathways that result in efficient credit articulation and degree completion. This role provides leadership coordination, support, and guidance to the university and its transfer partner institutions in developing effective transfer agreements, pathways, programs, and supportive policies and procedures. This role maintains knowledge of best practices to support effective transfer and assess transfer student trends and outcomes. This position also provides day-to-day operational leadership and coordination of TRSRC, including management of transfer academic advising activities in a matrixed reporting structure and supervision of 2.0 FTE Transfer Academic Advisors.

This position is funded by the Department of Education (DOE) Postsecondary Student Success Grant (PSSG) for the Access Connect Complete Engage program.


Minimum Qualifications Baccalaureate Degree Minimum 2 years direct leadership or supervisory experience Minimum of 4-6 years experience in higher education Strong understanding of community college transfer curricula as it relates to transfer to four year curricula and transfer articulation practices Demonstrated understanding of transfer pathways and transfer credit issues Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills Ability to work in-person full time and travel between PSU and community colleges in the surrounding area Experience with understanding data and its application to evidence based student success practices Preferred Qualifications Master’s Degree + 3 years experience Experience working with university community college partnerships Experience in direct leadership or supervisory role Experience providing direct advising to transfer students related to curricular matters Key Cultural Competencies Create an environment that acknowledges, encourages, and celebrates differences. Work Days/Hours TBD Total Compensation Range & Benefits Statement Salary is dependent on several factors, and new employees will typically start around the Q1 level to allow for later growth within the salary band. PSU has a structured process for determining starting compensation, taking into account years of related experience, applicable skills, knowledge and abilities, market parity, and internal equity.

The starting annual salary for this position will be between $63,792 and $84,540 but may be negotiated above this rate dependent upon the factors above, the budget of the hiring department, and approval from HR.
