Associate Engagement Project Manager
About the Team There are a lot of activities that happen in our stores so we have a strong cross-functional team focused on doing Anything for Pets by supporting the store teams through effective communications, processes and initiatives. The Store Strategy & Operations department leads the way to support all store activities and define business-driving strategies. The Workforce, Insights & Planning team owns labor optimization and reporting needs. The Operations & Innovation team owns merchandise execution, process improvement, compliance, store technology and innovation. And the Strategy team leads all the business-driving efforts for Salon, PetsHotel, Pet Training and In-store customer experience. These teams work diligently to ensure our associates, pets and pet parents are supported, while operating efficiently to drive the business. About the Location Hybrid Position: This position may be considered Hybrid based on PetSmart’s FlexSmart policy and business needs. A Hybrid work arrangement is considered to be a blend of onsite and remote work activity. Associates with a Hybrid work arrangement have a work space at Phoenix Home Office and can be required to come onsite between 1-5 days a week as determined by leadership and based on business needs. About the Job Summary This position is responsible for supporting the governance and execution of the store and field communication and Associate Engagement strategy. This position is responsible for bringing PetSmart’s messages to life through exceptional visual communication mediums that inform, motivate, and inspire associates, while building on PetSmart’s strategic initiatives and culture. This position will focus on initiatives that drive enhanced communication, education and engagement tools for our stores. Lastly, this position is designed to drive positive business change into the organization and improve the specific function of clear and cohesive communication to the stores and Field which will result in improved execution. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following: Associate Engagement: Supports store associate engagement programs that enhance the customer experience through improved knowledge and engagement of store associates. Develops store associate ongoing educational materials, including creation of tools and techniques as well as content. Creates new tools and resources as necessary to improve the in-store experience through store associate engagement. Partners closely with Learning and Development for all new hire and leadership training to ensure materials are relevant and updated for associates. Partners with vendors, merch partners, Puerto Rico and the Canada Home Office for alignment on education and engagement materials/communications. Supports production and facilitation of Field Leadership Meetings and Circle of Excellence event. Develop event communications in partnership with the appropriate business partners including speaker talking points, video scripts, PowerPoint presentations and intranet stories. Manages and adheres to established schedules in a fast-paced environment with deadlines. Communications: Supports ongoing management and oversight of store and field facing communication and cascade strategy. Maintains a variety of communication tools used to convey information to stores and field leadership. Assists teams from all functions of the Field Operations, Store Operations, Services and the Home Office in developing formal communication plans and tools to drive effectiveness and improved productivity and execution in our stores. Partners closely with business partners for content creation, cascade materials development and event support for field and store meetings. Supports the development and maintenance of communication standards, templates, and channels for all store and field communications. Provides day-to-day support of for the entire field, including answering questions for all processes noted above, solving issues as they arise and facilitating home office and store support. Education and/or Experience Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university in Communications or equivalent OR five years’ experience in Visual Communications, Business or Marketing. Learning and development knowledge preferred but not required. Experience in high-growth retail environment required. Required Skills Must be comfortable on video and confident coaching others to be successful in a recording environment. Must be proficient in using the Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word). Must be proficient in Adobe Premiere Pro. Intermediate knowledge of video, video editing, motion graphics and/or animation techniques. Must have excellent oral and written communication skills, including presentation and report writing/structuring skills. Must be highly organized and have proficient attention to detail. Must be able to work effectively in a team environment. Must possess proven analytical and strategic thinking skills specializing in process improvement. Experience with Visio, SharePoint and Adobe InDesign, PhotoShop, and Illustrator preferred. Must maintain a sense of urgency and agility/flexibility, able to more quickly between strategy and tactics. Must possess proven analytical and strategic thinking skills specializing in project management.
