Associate Engineer
A Day in Your Life at MKS: As a Associate Engineer at Photon Control Inc., a subsidiary of MKS Instruments, Inc. you play a key role in Photon Control’s Rapid Prototyping & Engineering Services team by supporting requests for manufacturing, building, and testing parts and assemblies for the Engineering, R&D, and Product Management departments. In this role, you will report to the Manager of Engineering Services.You Will Make an Impact By: + Deploying high-tech product and electrical prototypes, jigs, and fixtures to support product and technology development within Engineering and R&D. + Accurately assembling components into finished products by reading and following diagrams, drawings, specifications, bills of material, and instructions. + Inspecting components and parts, and conducting tests to validate product performance and reliability against customized plans. + Developing and documenting manufacturing processes (Process of Records - POR) for assembled prototypes, preparing them for the "In-Pilot Release" phase. Managing material, consumable, and tooling inventories to ensure readiness and rapid turnaround for job requests. + Maintaining and optimizing the prototype lab by ensuring equipment and work areas are clean and organized. + Performing preventative maintenance and calibration on equipment, while expanding capabilities and capacity as needed. + Conducting troubleshooting exercises, including root cause analysis and repairs. + Providing feedback to design engineers regarding manufacturability, failure modes and effects analysis, and cost reduction opportunities. Skills You Bring: + An Associate degree or equivalent technician experience. + A minimum of 2 years of related experience. + Ability to effectively prioritize tasks, adapt to a changing work environment, and manage competing demands while positively navigating frequent changes, delays, or unexpected events. + Strong analytical skills with attention to detail; flexible and adaptable in learning and understanding new technologies. + Self-motivated and capable of working independently as well as collaboratively in a team-oriented environment. + Familiarity with PFMEA is preferred but not required. + Proficiency in the MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), with knowledge of Visio considered a plus. + Understanding of 5S methodology. Physical Demands and Working Conditions: + Perform activities such as sitting, standing, or typing for extended periods of time. + Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. + Regularly requires good manual dexterity and coordination. + Occasionally moves/positions objects up to 20 pounds. + Ability to remain in a stationary position for 30% of the time. + Frequently positions self to perform tasks and positions objects below, at, and above shoulder level. + Regularly requires manual dexterity and coordination of objects below, at and above shoulder level.
