The primary function of the Exercise Specialist is to implement and supervise the physical exercise program in Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation and other programs which include an exercise component.
Phase II Cardiac Rehabilitation and complicated Pulmonary Rehabilitation services, the plan will be established by the Cardiac Rehab RN.
Rehabilitation Programs established by the Physical or Occupational Therapist will be established by the PT or OT.
Phase III Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation programs designed as maintenance or non-rehabilitation exercise programs for individuals with conditions that have lead to deconditioning, this position will be responsible for establishing the program.
This position will then be responsible for monitoring and modifying individual and group exercise programs for participants in the programs, as appropriate for the medical condition of the individuals served, including those on telemetry. This will include Assessing pulse, cardiac rhythm, blood pressure, oxygen saturations, and providing motivational and educational information to participants. This position will also coordinate and case manage those individuals involved in Phase III and Wellness Programs.

Required Qualifications:
Associate's Degree in Exercise Science or equivalent educ/experience Upon hire: National Provider BLS - American Heart AssociationPreferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Exercise Science or equivalent educ/experience Upon hire: Provider Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) - American Heart Association 6 months Cardiac rehabilitation in a hospital, skilled nursing facility or other medical field
