This position is responsible for nominating, scheduling, and monitoring gas transportation, purchases, sales, and storage volumes on pipeline EBB and/or LDC systems to effectuate gas flow to serve Duke Energy Customers. The Natural Gas Scheduler must understand the movement of natural gas, pipeline tariffs, multiple electronic bulletin boards, internal tracking, and risk systems, and is analytically capable of tracking transactions from inception to month end close. Independent action required in dealing with problem solving. Work is diversified and complex, requiring considerable analytical and technical skills.  This candidate should also understand upstream and downstream departmental relations, as well as work closely with Gas Control, Gas Accounting, and other internal groups.

Responsibilities:

Nominate physical natural gas movements in compliance with contract provisions, tariffs and procedures while meeting all NAESB\FERC cycle deadlines.

Knowledge of pipeline contracts, tariffs, rates, electronic nomination procedures and business practices.

Monitor and report daily receipts and deliveries at interconnects for imbalance positions.

Collaborate with suppliers, purchasers, pipelines and point operators to monitor and minimize imbalances. When imbalances occur, work within pipeline and LDC guidelines to reduce, and/or eliminate those imbalances in the manner most advantageous to the company.

Capable of tracking transactions from start of the month-to-month end.

Monitor pipeline notices and alert team to relevant issues.

Establish and cultivate trusted partnerships with counterparties, traders, pipeline reps, gas control and internal personnel.

Identify incremental capacity and supply availability to optimize cost and profitability to the company.

Analyze and fully understand complex change requests and resolve competing priorities.

Maintain all associated spreadsheets, pipeline imbalances and storage balances.

Collaborate with Gas Traders to determine the most economical decisions and provide input into deal valuations\structuring.

Ability to work under pressure with hourly hard deadlines and frequent priority changes.

Work outside regular hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, is required on a rotating basis.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Facilitate weekly meetings with internal staff.

Ability to anticipate and meet rapidly changing customer and business needs by quickly refocusing and realigning strategic and operational direction.

Utilize complex problem solving, critical thinking and deductive reasoning to resolve issues while working independently with minimum assistance while effectively managing daily workload.

Effectively manage stressful situations and manage operations occurring simultaneously on multiple pipelines.

Provide support to Large Customer Billing and Gas Accounting Departments during month-end close to ensure prompt invoicing.

Ability to work remotely during emergency or critical operating conditions.

Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, with an emphasis on Excel.

Scheduling experience on pipelines such as but not limited to: Transco, TGP, Columbia Gulf, TCO, Texas Gas, ETN and TETCO.

Trellis or other natural gas industry specific energy management systems.

Working knowledge of NAESB standards and guidelines as it relates to nominations, confirmation, scheduling, and allocations.

SQL experience.

Ability to thrive and engage in a dynamic and collaborative environment and take part in the daily exchange of opinions\ideas between operations and trading.

Ability to leverage relationships and respond inventively when faced with challenges and generate effective, safe, and ethical solutions based on available information.

Working Conditions:

Hybrid Mobility Classification – Work will be both remote and onsite locations after the onboarding period. However, hybrid employees should live within a reasonable daily commute to a Duke Energy facility. A minimum of 3 days/week in the office.
