Associate General Counsel

PRIMARY FUNCTION: The Associate General Counsel provides legal guidance surrounding company activities, policies, practices and procedures to management in a manner that is timely, proactive, practical, cost-effective, and meets the highest legal, ethical and professional standards.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS:        

Provide counsel, advice and other legal services surrounding all facets of Company practices (i.e. transactions, disputes, regulatory issues, contracts, real estate, labor and employment issues, intellectual property, etc.) ensuring compliance with company policies and guidelines and regulatory and Federal and State entities practices, policies, guidelines, regulations and laws  Review, investigate and advise internal clients on contractual matters, employment law and workers compensation mattersNegotiate, draft and review contractual agreements and legal documents, and assisting with implementing and managing a contract administration processParticipate in definition, development and interpretation of company policies, procedures and programsProvide litigation support, including reviewing and editing of pleadings and motions; reviewing and responding to subpoenas and other demands for information; document production; witness preparation; and other activities related to litigation, arbitrations and disputesKeep current on statutes, regulations, and policies of government, trade, and case law affecting business operations; advise leadership on changes impacting operations, and to protect company rights, revenues and assetsPerform additional relevant duties as assigned

SUPERVISOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

While this is an individual contributor position the position requires leadership when dealing with leaders of people and, at times, leaders of leaders. Competencies required: Functional/Technical Skills, Action Oriented, Problem Solving, Learning on the Fly and Interpersonal Savvy

EDUCATION and CERTIFICATIONS:

Juris Doctor degree from an accredited institutionMust be legally authorized to practice law in the United States and hold an active bar admission in one or more of the following states: [GA, MS, TX, NC, AL, AR]

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:

Minimum three (3) years’ experience in an in-house or law firm environment with demonstrated experience in the field of worker’s compensation, employment and general contract lawThorough knowledge of corporate and transactional law and related drafting skillsAbility to gather and assemble complex facts and evidence, analyze thoroughly, negotiate as necessary and implement the proper legal and business solutionsStrong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects while maintaining attention to detailStrong computer skills: Microsoft (Word, Excel, etc.)Strong customer focus with the ability to communicate, both verbal and written, with internal and external customers in a timely and professional mannerMust have exceptional communication, both verbal and written, attention to detail and the ability to resolve issues efficiently and effectively Self-starter who demonstrates strong initiative and sense of urgency, with the ability to work in a fast paced environmentMust possess a strong customer-centric attitude, high energy level and a strong sense of urgency
