Associate General Counsel - Employment
As an Associate General Counsel at Compass, you work on exciting matters that require proactive legal guidance. You're part of a group of talented in-house lawyers, and the projects you work on challenge you to think creatively and constructively. You are energetic and collaborative -- ready to partner in initiatives that influence all aspects of Compass’s business and work with employees across the company and country. Your contributions will be impactful, value driven and you will play an instrumental role on the Compass Legal Team.
At Compass You Will:
Counsel senior management and the People & Culture team on a variety of labor, employment and compliance issues, including hiring, workplace conduct, FLSA, leaves of absence, benefits, separations, employee relations and M&A transactions and integrations, all while appropriately balancing business needs and risk mitigation Supervise and lead employment attorneys and other legal professionals Manage litigation and defense strategy, arbitrations, internal investigations, communications with federal and state agencies, and responses to correspondence from attorneys and other relevant parties Analyze judicial and legislative developments and structure and implement strategies, trainings, policies and procedures to mitigate legal risk Oversee and instruct external counsel; manage budgets and associated forecasting and reporting requirements Assist with various other non-employment litigation and other legal mattersWhat We Look For:
Strong academic credentials including a JD and membership in good standing in at least one state bar (NY or CA bar strongly preferred) 8+ years combined years of experience, primarily in employment advice and litigation, with a top-tier law firm and/or in-house legal department (high-growth company experience a plus) Proven ability to manage a team in a fast-paced environment Strong organizational and interpersonal skills with an ability to distill complex legal issues and provide sound, clear legal advice to senior leaders and others Experience with local, state and federal employment laws, familiarity with California, New York State and New York City preferred A team player with low ego who can effectively work with and manage other attorneys and legal professionals This role is 100% onsite based out of our Beverly Hills officeCompensation:
The base pay range for this position is $233,280-$259,200 annually; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Bonuses and restricted stock units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of benefits. Base pay is based on market location. Minimum wage for the position will always be met.
