University of Rochester: Office of the Provost: University of Rochester Medical Center: School of Medicine and Dentistry: Medicine: Medicine: Infectious Diseases **Salary Range or Pay Grade** $150,000 a year **Description** Senior Associate The Department of Medicine, Division of Infectious Diseases is seeking a Senior Associate in Medicine. This position, under the supervision of the Principal Investigator, plan and implement the goals outlined in the University of Rochester HIV/AIDS Clinical Trials Unit (CTU) for NIAID networks within the Department of Medicine, Division of Infectious Disease. This position requires high level planning and implementation of critical functions of the CTU as well as assisting with the expansion of sites in NIAID HIV Vaccine Trials Network. The position will also continue further development of the CTU community education and engagement program. Specific Responsibilities: Direct the planning, implementation and evaluation of the HIV/AIDS CTU. Activities include: + • Key personal and contact for communication within the CTU and across each Clinical Research Site (CRS) with CTU leadership, fiscal and NIH funders. + • Coordinate and manage the evaluation component of the CTU. Identify gaps and trends across the CTU; utilizing research methods, develop action plans and evaluate outcomes. + • Overall management of the HVTN CRS, including staff, regulatory, clinic operations and community engagement. + • Development and evaluation of community engagement project for students within the CTU. Conduct ongoing assessment and oversight of the student and his/her project. + • Coordinate student projects with other ongoing UR CCH student led projects to create a cohesive platform. + • Potentially assist with teaching and development of new education materials within the CTSI. + • Coordinate the expansion of the CTU into the Antibacterial Resistance Leadership Group (ARLG). This will increase the opportunities for new grant funding + • Integration and educational training of staff to conduct research within the ARLG. + • Participate and assist with Center for AIDS Research (CFAR) projects, including education to new investigator and coordinator support to junior faculty. + • Identify and share funding opportunities for community engagement and assist in the application for grant funding. + • Mentor and provide education to other research coordinators, medical students and graduate students in community engagement and research. + • Identify and conduct CBPR research projects + • Network contributions: + · Key role in the development of the curriculum and training for new research sites in Southern Africa. + · The candidate will provide education; develop curriculum and mentor staff in regards to conducting research in Southern Africa research sites. This includes engagement of the community, regulatory guidelines, communication, operations, Good Clinical Practice, and Human Subject Protection Training. **Qualifications** Minimum requirement includes Master’s Degree in related field, at least five years of leadership level experience in the field of research and community engagement. Teaching and conducting educational forums experience, grant writing experience and community based research experience. Has knowledge of trends and research related to the areas of the population served and community-engaged research. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
