Associate Investigator - Geriatrics, Maternal & Child Health
Description: Salary Range:  $68.80/hour-$80.91/hour

Job Summary:

Serves as investigator or co-investigator on major projects for the Kaiser Permanente Colorado (KPCO) Institute for Health Research (IHR). Leads or co-leads a program of research that is recognized nationally. Participates in and develops an ongoing program of research in area of expertise. Designs, develops, and obtains funding for well-defined research. Disseminates research results through presentations and publications in leading scientific and professional journals. is sought out to advise KPCO, Colorado Permanente Medical Group, Kaiser Permanente nationally, and national policymakers in area of expertise. Contributes to the ongoing development and maintenance of the IHR by assisting in IHR policy development and maintenance, serving on relevant KP committees and providing technical consulting and professional service to KP. Maintains and supports a culture of compliance, ethics and integrity. Maintains knowledge of policies and procedures and performs in accordance with the Principles of Responsibilities and applicable regulatory requirements, external laws and accreditation standards. Appropriately reports observed fraud or abuse.



Essential Responsibilities:

Within the framework of the IHR goals and objectives, associate investigators pursue their professional work with a great degree of autonomy. Investigators professional role and autonomy are equivalent to the rank of associate professors or mid-career associate professors in a university setting. Most research activities entail substantial collegial interaction between and among other investigators and senior investigators.
Designs, develops, and obtains funding; directs or co-directs an ongoing research program.
Independently and collaboratively prepares grant proposals, internal reports and publications; leads interpretation and dissemination of research results.
Mentors junior investigators (including investigators new to KP or the IHR), post-docs, Scientific Research Associates research project and technical staff.
Serves on or may chair IHR committees, KPCO committees, and Program Office committees.
Assumes selected administrative responsibilities.
Presents papers at national scientific meetings and/or reviews papers for national journals.
Collaborates with investigators outside of the IHR.
May consult on others research proposals; may consult with local, state, and national voluntary and governmental agencies.
Provides service to the scientific community through membership on peer groups, national boards, and/or study review panels.
Accountable for consistently demonstrating service behaviors and principles defined by the Kaiser Permanente Service Quality Credo, the KP Mission as well as specific departmental/organizational initiatives. Accountable for consistently demonstrating the knowledge, skills, abilities, and behaviors necessary to provide superior and culturally sensitive service to each other, to our members, to purchasers, contracted providers and vendors.
Basic Qualifications: Experience

Minimum seven (7) years of experience as co- or principal investigator in conducting research and research experience during graduate and post-graduate training.
Education
Doctoral degree (e.g., PhD, MD, DO, or similar) in a social sciences, medicine, health care discipline, or other relevant field. License, Certification, Registration N/A Additional Requirements:
Experience and skills in organizing, translating and transmitting knowledge (e.g., through teaching).Area of expertise is relevant to the IHRs research agenda.Knowledge of research methods and theory in health services research-related discipline, knowledge of approaches to dealing with methodological and analytic problems in area of expertise.Clearly advancing towards a successful independent research career as evidenced from receipt of grant funding, published materials, and written recommendations from at least three (3) recognized experts in the investigators area of expertise.Ability to guide a research team to accomplish project tasks in a timely and efficient manner.Demonstrated ability to publish articles in peer-reviewed journals, including six (6) or more first-authored and co-authored articles.Ability to write and communicate effectively to scientific/technical audiences as evidenced by presenting research findings at national meetings. Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working in or with a health maintenance organization.Understanding of statistical software packages and analytic databases.Membership in professional/scientific association(s) associated with research discipline.Record of obtaining extramural funding.Evidence of knowledge of health care organization, policy, practice, and management sufficient to facilitate application of research to medical and health care topics.Evidence of success working in an applied setting with a multi-disciplinary group of scientists and clinicians.
