Associate Lab Technician
Job Title: Associate Lab TechnicianJob Description Position Summary: - Under direct supervision by department leadership, the Associate Lab Technician performs diagnostic clinical and clinical contract research testing. - Prepares samples through sample management and tests samples on 4 different analyzers for customer results. - Supports preparation of laboratory reagents and routine maintenance of laboratory equipment. Essential Functions and Responsibilities: - Understands and performs to all applicable regulatory and compliance requirements. - Performs diagnostic testing, as scheduled (500-1,500 samples per analyzer in a given night) on one of 4 analyzers. - Supports the sample management team with sample identification/evaluation, labeling, processing, and centrifuging samples when there are high volumes of samples or a decrease in tests needed. - Performs reagent preparation, as scheduled, and supports maintenance of reagents. - Operates, troubleshoots, and performs routine maintenance and calibration on equipment and may participate in validations. - May release final results in accordance with training and compliance requirements. Volume: - Each analyzer can handle anywhere from 500 to 1,500 samples/bench in a given night (as the night shift tests the most samples). 6 Month Training: 1:1 training with a trainer on the 3rd shift, broken into 4 parts based on the analyzer: - Training on the person, followed by a few weeks of individual experience. - Training on Abbott Alinity S, followed by a few weeks of individual experience. - Training on Immucor Neo, followed by a few weeks of individual experience. - Training on Roche Cobas 8800, followed by a few weeks of individual experience. Shift: - Friday-Monday 6am-4:30pm (NO extra need for Wednesdays/Thursdays), but could work Saturday-Tuesday. Rotating holidays. - Could be every other weekend or just 3 weekends out of a month. - Work 1-2 holidays/year (typically 1 in the summer and 1 in the winter). - First 6 weeks are 1st shift training on one of the analyzers. Dress Code: Scrubs or business casual (must wear long pants in the lab) along with comfortable, clean, closed-toe shoes. Number of Personnel on 3rd Shift: - 4-5 other techs working alongside. - 3-4 sample management assistants. Work Site This is a fully on-site position in Indianapolis, Indiana. Work Environment The lab is divided into three areas: a reference lab, HLA (DNA testing), and testing labs. This position is in the testing lab which services multiple locations including Indiana, Wisconsin, Ohio, Illinois, and Michigan.
