This position will directly supervise purchasing personnel.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
Primary responsibilities:
Manage and oversee day-to-day purchasing operations including suppliers, purchase requisitions and orders, issue resolution, and inventory levels to meet site delivery commitments and budgets.Plan, source, and negotiate all purchases for goods and services in accordance with departmental policies and procedures in support of company policies, goals, and objectives, while ensuring terms most favorable to operation for pricing, storage, and delivery.Develop, update, and implement effective sourcing strategies to ensure operation has continuous supply of quality, competitively priced goods and services.Foresee and escalate purchasing interruptions, constraints, or issues and works cross-functionally with necessary value streams and departments to minimize impact to the operation.Chair or Co-Chair purchasing and supplier related meetings including Supplier Obsolescence, Invoice Holds Resolution, Material Availability, PO Aging, Inspection Aging, and ATP.Collaborate cross-functionally with value streams and departments on purchasing related support or activities including NPIs, payables resolution, KPIs, master data, leadership reporting, continuous improvement activities, and BCP.Own overall purchasing procedures and processes, including Oracle ASAP driven signals for planned order recommendations, order release actions, and exception messages management.Collaborate and support supplier quality on site specific supplier quality activities including supplier performance management and KPIs, ASL, supplier qualifications & approvals, and SMP.Be a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for purchasing, serving as a partner to manufacturing.Track and support Non-Conformance (NC) investigations, monitoring impact on inventory availability, working closely with planning and QA to prioritize NCs.Develop and maintain positive working relationships with internal and external customers to support manufacturing operations.Manage, train, and develop purchasing team members.Support and participate in cross-functional teams.Perform other related duties as assigned.DESIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSThe requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required for his position.
Minimum required education and experience: Bachelor degree or equivalent with 3+ years of experience leading a team, Master degree with 1-3 years of experience leading a teamEducation: Bachelor’s degree: SCM, business, economics, or sciences background(relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of degree).
Experience:5+ years of experience working in purchasing, procurement, category management, strategic sourcing, supply chain, production control, and / or manufacturing.Strategic thinker, detail oriented, strong analytical skills; must have good communication, organizational, and leadership skills to work with various value streams and departments in the organization.Experience using Oracle is highly desirable.Extensive knowledge in analyzing and solving problems in a disciplined fashion, ensuring clear understanding of the root cause(s) and efficient recommendations for resolution.Possess team-focused attitude and work in team-oriented environment.Creative / innovative mindset, with demonstrated ability to “think outside the box”.Demonstrated computer skills. Advanced MS Excel user.Ability to work on multiple projects with limited direction.TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USEDAbility to utilize a computer, telephone and copy machine as well as other general office equipment. Strong computer skills are required.
