Job Description:

L3Harris Technologies has an opening for a Associate Manager, Systems Engineering in Modeling, Simulation & Analysis (MS&A) to join our Mission Analysis Group (MAG).  This position is located in Herndon, VA.  The selected Associate Manager, Systems Engineering will work in a fast-paced environment with a diverse collaborative geographically dispersed team to develop various analytic toolsets focused on constructive simulation and experimentation across multi-domains, for a variety of customers, both internal and external contracts.  Toolsets are used in a variety of simulation events ranging from customer engagement, proposal support to advanced concept exploration.

Essential Functions: 

Leads, directs, and reviews the work of professionals or lower level supervisors. Communicates within and outside own function to explain and gain cooperation on policies and practices. Makes moderate to substantial improvements to processes, systems, and solutions. Plans and establishes goals and objectives for a team with direct impact on the short-term operational results for the department. Requires practical knowledge in leading/managing projects, processes, and employees and has strong knowledge within professional discipline.Communicates with parties within and outside of own job function/area, which includes customers or vendors. Explains, interprets, and gains cooperation on policies, practices, and processes to others within the organization.Coordinate MS&A engineering efforts to integrate system performance and behaviors into operational analysisDesign multi-domain simulation capabilities in AFSIM®, MATLAB® and or STK® in support of MAG Technology and Mission Roadmaps, Internal Research and Development efforts, and Programs of record.Integrate other Government-off-the-Shelf (GOTS) and Customer-off-the-Shelf (COTS) simulations, frameworks, models and analytic toolsets to existing S/W infrastructure i.e. AFSIM®, MATLAB® and or STK®.Build and maintain analytic toolsets representing each phase of the find, fix, target, track, engage, and assess (F2T2EA) chain using sensor, effects, and communications technologies, including decision support aids i.e. data visualization, Unity-game engines to support operations assessment, as well as lessons learned development/refinement experience.Document model specifications for establishing a repository of simulation capabilities, frameworks, algorithms, system models, analytic toolsets etc. for reuse at  multiple classification levels, while maintain configuration management protocols.Support programs and pursuits by creating models, simulations, and analysis products.  Determine requirements, develop simulation software, troubleshoot existing simulation capabilities, and create software designs and test plans.Support requirements development, system verification, and concept of operations (CONOPS) development as well as work with Technical Leaders & SMEs to ensure modeling, simulation, analysis capabilities meet operational mission requirements.Develop new simulation capabilities and processes for employment, enhance current analytic toolset.Support internal and external technical expo/roadshows by providing knowledge sharing of signature simulation capabilities and products.Support knowledge transfer i.e. coaching and mentorship of Junior technical talent across the MAG.Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.


Qualifications:

DoD TOP SECRET security clearance with SCIBachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 6 years of prior related experience or, 4 years of prior related experience with a Graduate Degree.  In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior related experience.Experience executing simulation in Gov/Industry MS&A analytic tools and frameworks: AFSIM, PIANO , STK/AstrogatorExperience integrating Gov/Industry simulations with MBSE tools: Cameo, ModelCenter, DOORS, Rhapsody, Experience with scripting languages such as Anaconda with Python, simulation code development in C++, C#, R, Python, MATLABExperience with agile development methodology, version control and Atlassian tools: JIRA, Confluence, Git, TortoiseGit

Preferred Additional Skills:

Bachelor's degree in STEM fields (Software/Computer/Electrical/Aerospace/Software/Systems Engineering, Physics) Good communication skills and works well in a team environmentMastery of Systems Engineering concepts, methods and state of practiceAdvanced experience in supporting modeling, simulation, and analysis multi-domain related problems and system-thru-mission-level mod/sim tools and frameworksPrior experience with one or more of the following: aerodynamic systems, orbital mechanics, signal processing, sensor systems, and RF or EO/IR physicsHighly effective organization level communication, presentation, interpersonal skills, data visualization and storytellingAdvanced experience with Gov/Industry MS&A analytic tools and frameworks: AFSIM, PIANO , STK/Astrogator, MATLAB with SIMULINK, Python, JavaAdvanced experience of MBSE tools: Cameo, ModelCenter, DOORS, RhapsodyTop Secret SCI clearance highly desired
