We are seeking an Associate Manager, Process Development, on a permanent basis to join our team.

 

 

Job Purpose:


As Associate Manager of the chemistry team within Process Development at Boston Scientific Cork, the candidate will 1) lead development activities towards preclinical and clinical milestones of proprietary immunotherapy candidates; 2) manage the Process Development chemistry team in injectable and implantable therapies for cancer and other treatment areas; 3) lead chemistry initiates in line with site objectives. 

 

 

Key Responsibilities:


•     Lead PD chemistry development activities of drug delivery therapies, involving hydrogels, microbeads, functionalised polymers & drug candidates.
•    Coordinate cross-functional activities towards preclinical and clinical objectives involving internal and external partners. 
•    Manage team of chemistry specialist and provide guidance and mentorship to engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and innovation. Plan and coordinate laboratory activities.
•    Devise & innovate concepts and solutions for process development of new drug delivery forms and applications. Investigate the feasibility of applying scientific principles and concepts to potential technologies, materials, processes and products.
•    Integrate state-of-the-art PD activities into development, ensuring successful transfer of project results. 
•    Develop and implement chemistry, department and team initiatives. 
•    Contribute to academic engagements, driving collaborative research initiatives. Consult and interact with outside and inside experts.

•    Design and analyse DOEs, reporting key results through detailed reports, process development documents, and presentations during meetings. 
•    Participates in intellectual property evaluations and development of patent applications.

 

 

Education & Experience:


•     PhD in Chemistry with knowledge of formulation or process development, chemical synthesis or related field. 5+ years of experience in an industry relevant role.  (MSc in Chemistry discipline with 7+ years of relevant experience).
•    Familiar with development lab activities with knowledge of formulation, process and analytical techniques and technologies.
•    Experience in leading organisational initiates. 
•    Background in drug delivery therapies and technologies such as hydrogels, microbeads, functionalised polymer or similar forms. 
•    Knowledge of ICH and USP an advantage.
•    Understanding of Statistical Process Control (SPC) and/or Design of Experiments (DOE) an advantage 
•    Knowledge of material synthesis and material characterization. 
•    The successful candidate must be a self-starter with the ability to work on own initiative, while possessing strong team player characteristics.
