Associate Microbiologist
Job Title: Associate Microbiologist

Job Description

Responsible for carrying out routine microbiology laboratory testing, recording and transmitting data in support of scientific studies. Activities include preparation and sterilization of growth media, stock culture maintenance, weighing, measuring, and working with microorganisms, following laboratory procedures, generating documentation, and using general lab equipment.

• Collect, record, and transcribe data and draft reports as appropriate. Document all relevant changes as per requirements with little oversight.

• Help integrate new equipment into laboratories.

• Respond to study demands and handle several different project-related tasks simultaneously.

• Recognize abnormal and normal study characteristics (deviations from normal) and suggest changes as appropriate. Learn from experience of self and others. Evaluate and communicate risk appropriately. Assess potential risks proactively to avoid problems.

• Participate in the planning stages of test protocol development. Ensure that the protocol is carried out as documented.

• Readily accept changes and quickly master new test methods.

• Execute approved SOPs and test methods.

• Acquire, track, and manage samples for testing.

• Maintain and be up-to-date with required trainings and qualifications.
