Associate Microbiologist
Job Title: Associate Microbiologist - USP Lab - 4 day work week

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Associate Microbiologist to join our USP lab team. The role involves routine analysis and testing, primarily focusing on dietary supplements. This position offers the opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment with potential for advancement.

ResponsibilitiesConduct routine analysis of dietary supplements.Utilize various types of media and dilutions for sample inoculation.Test for pathogens such as E. coli, Salmonella, and Listeria.Perform plating for yeast, mold, and total plate count at lower dilutions.Participate in a multi-phase project starting mid-March, with an anticipated increase in sample volume.Train in the Probiotics lab for future projects, involving enumeration of probiotic samples.Utilize dilution plate methods and pour plate methods.Engage in flow cytometry as the role progresses.Essential SkillsBachelor's degree in Life Sciences (Microbiology, Biology, Biochemistry, etc.).0-1+ years of experience in a production/manufacturing or food service position.Ability to multi-task effectively.High attention to detail, with precise weight measurements.Experience with aseptic techniques.Proficiency in microbiology and biology.Ability to use various styles of pipettes and micropipettes, particularly multi-channel electronic pipettes.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience in food testing or client service is highly desirable.Experience with PCR and ELISA testing is a plus.Okay in routine/repetitive tasks such as warehouse or assembly work.Ability to verify details through references.Work Environment

This position is set in a lab environment within a facility that focuses on testing dietary microbiology and probiotics. The lab is situated in a new building, established in January 2021, and is characterized by a small team dynamic. The work is fast-paced and can be repetitive, depending on the group you are part of. The Microbiology department consists of around 20 employees and operates separately from the Chemistry department. There is a bonus program based on tenure and performance, and annual pay increases are evaluated based on job performance. Please note that food allergies should be disclosed.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $21.00/hr.
