The Transmission Department’s primary function is to facilitate safe and reliable operation of all transmission pipeline systems, transmission stations, distribution stations, and all large customer metering systems.
This position reports to Enbridge Gas North Carolina’s Asheville Operations Center in Asheville, North Carolina.
Important Note: This role is considered safety sensitive, and as such, you may be required to undergo various background screenings. This may include but is not limited to a driving record abstract, criminal check, a company sponsored medical and drug testing.
What You Will Do:Mow and maintains the Company’s pipeline right-of-way for transmission lines and cross-country distribution lines to ensure adequate access is preserved.Inspects road crossings and transmission valves, performs leak surveys, and patrols the cross-country right-of-way to remain in compliance with federal/state laws and regulations.Responsible for maintaining station appearance and the integrity of the pipe by painting, spraying herbicide and mowing.Locates underground transmission facilities for parties encroaching upon the rights-of-wayCompletes required documentationRepairs and maintains equipment used including truck, backhoe, bush hog, dump truck, trailers, small engines on outdoor equipment (i.e. chain saws and weed trimmers), painting equipment, and air compressorInspects, operates, and maintains block valves as scheduled.Applicants must be willing and able to work overtime, after-hours, on-call rotations, nights and weekends as work needs dictate. Additionally, occasional overnight travel to other Company work locations may be required and is anticipated. Travel assignments may range from a day or two up to a few weeks. A complete understanding of the responsibility and dedication the position requires is critical.Who You Are:Associate Pipeline Maintenance Operator (0 - 2 years' related experience)
Completed high school or equivalent (i.e. GED)Possess a valid driver's license with a safe driving history.A valid commercial driver’s license is highly preferred. The ability to acquire a commercial driver's license within six (6) months of employment is required.Acquire and maintain a NC pesticide license.Ability to operate heavy equipment, such as bush hog tractor, dump truck and back hoe.At least six months experience operating common hand and power tools including grinder, painting equipment, pipe locators, chain saws, weed trimmers, air compressor, cutting torch and various other hand toolsAbility to read maps, drawings and blueprintsBasic computer skills, including Microsoft OfficeEffective communication skills for customer and property owner interactions and a willingness to work with others in a diverse team environmentAbility to adhere to safe working and driving proceduresWilling and able to meet a 45-minute emergency response time from the geographical center of the Asheville Operations area.Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & ExperienceKnowledge of Construction Operating and Maintenance Procedures and Department of Transportation CodesCurrent NC pesticide licenseExperience driving with trailersBilingual (Spanish) candidatesWorking Conditions:Work is performed outside in varying weather conditions.Position may encounter agitated/upset customers and property ownersPhysical Requirements (Include but are not limited to):Balancing, bending and stooping, climbing, crawling, carrying (occasionally up to 80 amount of pounds), grasping, kneeling, lifting (occasionally objects up to 80 pounds), pulling hand over hand, pushing, reaching above shoulder, repetitive motion, sitting, standing, walking, visual requirement (able to see screens, detect color coding, read fine print), hearing requirement, grasping, kneeling, lifting (occasionally objects up to 80 pounds), reaching above shoulder, repetitive motion, sitting, standing, visual requirement (able to see screens, detect color coding, read fine print), hearing requirement.
