As an Associate Principal Engineer Highways in our Transportation team, you'll be pivotal in implementing ideas that shape the future of how we move. We work on a large variety of significant and challenging projects across the UK and Ireland. You'll feel a great sense of pride in shaping high-quality civil and structural designs across new build, renewal, maintenance, and assessment works. Collaborate with national and international design teams, using your insight and leadership to generate positive, sustainable impacts on society and the environment.
We offer flexible working where you will typically be working from our Belfast office 2-3 days a week and with an intermittent travelling to the Dublin office as per the need of the business.
Your purpose:
Providing technical guidance on highway infrastructure projects.Mentoring and coaching team members and taking responsibility for the technical development of staff.Checking and reviewing the work of others.Liaise with key clients and be capable of discussing design / technical solutions to stakeholders including technical and non-technical Clients.Liaising with Practice Managers to ensure projects are sufficiently resourced.Delegating work to team members, programming deliverables and monitoring progress.Identify and respond to project commercial risks and opportunities.Support the business in work winning including representing the business at networking events, preparing bids and tenders.What you can bring:
Experience in highway alignment design including links and junctions.A thorough comprehension of technical standards relating to highways design with experience in identifying and seeking approvals for departures in standard.Experience of client interface in conjunction with other senior staff.Proven ability to advise clients on technical matters.Proven ability to coach and develop team members including planning, monitoring and control.A willingness to work flexibly to deliver projects to time and budget.Self-motivated and able to work both independently as well as within a larger multi-discipline team in leading and managing packages of work to completion.A supportive and encouraging approach to mentoring less experienced members of the team.Why work for AtkinsRéalis?
