The Associate Print, Insert, Bindery Operator takes pride in delivering high quality, consistent, physical communication materials, placing a high value on quality, service, and delivery to meet all customer needs. This is an onsite role at one of our corporate locations supporting at least one production area within the department; supporting various processes within this space. This role has daily responsibilities that include, operating high-capacity production printers, a variety of document finishing equipment, and mail inserting machines. Workload is determined by regulatory due dates and client demands which requires an ability to adapt to business needs and daily priorities.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Conducts various production service tasks, including reading, reviewing and interpreting job specifications in order to print, finish, transport, and insert daily client correspondence for core product business areas.
Completes the required basic machine setup and calibrations needed to ensure the seamless operation of equipment to keep the job moving through production while maintaining high quality, accuracy, and timely delivery.
Conducts a quality control review of proof and production job components to verify accurate and high-quality finishing of materials, safeguarding the organization’s brand, image and commitment to an optimal client experience. In the event of identified issues or concerns, collaborate with experienced staff to implement necessary corrective actions.
Updates the appropriate workflow administration tools upon completion of a job to progress to the next production stage, marks it complete, and/or adjusts completed pieces as appropriate.
Provides basic maintenance support for inhouse production equipment ensuring they are maintained and running properly. Works with more experienced peers when machine errors or issues come up to determine next steps.
Follows all standard operating procedures, best practices and safety standards ensuring your safety as well as those around you. Maintains a clean and orderly work environment and restocks supplies daily.
Demonstrates the ability to receive constructive feedback during equipment or process training and take appropriate steps to acquire knowledge and enhance skills.
Utilizes Continuous Improvement (CI) tools to eliminate waste and optimize processes in daily operations and incorporates practices into daily routine to create and maintain a productive work environment.
In this position, regular communication is essential with peers, external vendors, contractors, consultants, and supervisory staff, including their manager. The role involves providing insights to peers and other team members regarding suggested improvements, concerns or identified issues with equipment and processes.
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:
Required:
High school graduate or GED equivalent required.Familiarity with operation and maintenance of industrial equipment.Strong verbal and written communication skillsStrong organizational skills coupled with solid problem-solving ability.Ability to manage time effectively, work quickly and accurately.Thorough attention to detail, commitment to quality, client-centric focus, and delivery of exceptional serviceFlexibility to work additional hours or different schedules, as needed.Requires extended periods of walking and standing, reaching with arms and hands; stooping, kneeling, crouching; ability to lift sixty-five pounds and push/pull skids of material. Physical ability to stand, walk, squat, reach, sit, bend, and count for extended periods of time. High degree of hand/eye coordination and manual dexterity.General aptitude using computer system and software. This would include but not limited to Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, etc.Ability to obtain formal training certification for operation of electric pallet jack.Capability to tolerate noise and exposure to paper dust.Preferred:
Lean Six Sigma training or experience with improving processes, continuous improvement, and leading change.1 to 3 years of experience using an array printing, finishing, mail inserting industrial equipment is a plus.
