Job Description

Targeted Annual Pay Range: Minimum of $65,000.00 to a maximum of $85,000.00

POSITION PURPOSE: Associate Project Engineer - Commissioning with Electrical Concentration, must be a self-motivated, energetic professional and versed in electrical engineering theory and/or hands on experience with electrical equipment. It would be preferable for the candidate to have some experience with building MEP systems design, commissioning, retro-commissioning, and construction of critical system, but not required. The ideal candidate shall possess theoretical and practical knowledge in power systems and related controls. Candidate will be responsible for executing daily tasks, performing equipment inspections and assisting Project Engineers and Sr. Project Engineers with test planning and execution.

PRIMARY DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES: Commission electrical distribution equipment and related controls, primarily in data center environments, including HV and MV primary distribution

Conduct commissioning activities from the Design Phase into the Occupation Phase, in accordance with client requirements.Identify, assemble, and review relevent documentation, drawings, and data for commissioning.Assist in developing building-specific commissioning plans and test scripts.Fully document field procedures, including results, issues, and observations using online applications.Work with project teams to coordinate and execute field activities.Attend factory inspection and testing of equipment and document findings and recommendations.Perform inspections of electrical equipment and contractor installation for compliance to specifications and industry best practices.Assist with physical testing of electrical equipment and measure results using test instrumentation.Monitor electrical system performance and compare to specifications.Verify remote monitoring of electrical equipment statuses.Ensure compliance with company, client, and project safety requirements.Gain knowledgeable with common electrical and controls-related building equipment, including:Backup generators.Uninterruptible power supplies & battery systems.Low and medium-voltage electrical switchgear.PLC controls and sequences of operations.Automatic transfer switches.Static transfer switches.Power distribution units.Busways.Grounding systems. Electrical monitoring systems.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS / WORK ENVIRONMENT

 

Ability to walk up to 5 miles per dayCarry up to 50 lbs. Ability to wear required PPE daily.Travel nationwide 50% - 75% if not assigned locally.

 

Qualifications

Education / Experience / Background:

BSc or MSc in Electrical Engineering

                                  OR

Minimum of 2 or more years of experience as a commissioning agent with hands-on experience in electrical/controls test and commissioning of mission critical systems.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:

Knowledge of electrical engineering and/or power systems essentialOrganized, detail-oriented, analytical, proactive, problem solverGood communication and relationship skillsEffective written and verbal communication skillsAbility to manage multiple tasks simultaneouslyTeam player and a “client-first” mentalityHands on experience of electrical test instrumentation preferredExperience in Mission Critical facility commissioning desired. Knowledge & experience with ASHRAE commissioning guidelines preferred, but not required.
