Associate Project Manager - Environmental

The APME is accountable for managing required scope within an approved budget and schedule. Through integrated planning and effective coordination with other functional groups, the APME, supports safe execution of project activities; highest levels of service reliability, customer service and community relationship; compliance with all permits and other federal, state, and local environmental regulations in accordance with Company policies and procedures. The position will supervise and coach direct reports and manage assigned project staff (indirect reports) who assist in the execution of the portfolio, including Environmental Support Specialists, Environmental Technical Specialists, and Environmental Project Specialists. The position requires a monitor/control function to measure individuals’ progress against project plans (scope, cost schedule, performance safety); as well as risk response and supplier contract management. Leads project execution thru the organizing, directing and coordination of activities and assigns resources to support the project portfolio. The APME communicates and interacts with project stakeholders, leads team meetings; provides technical guidance to their team, ensures timely preparation and issue of reports on project status; generates and maintains performance metrics (milestones, KPI’s and budget) for the Utility; interfaces with senior management and regulators, and ensures support from internal stakeholders are adequate to ensure success. **Job Responsibilities** • Supervise and coach direct reports and managed assigned project staff (indirect reports). Manage the environmental scope and success for the portfolio. • Monitor/Control – Measure the individual’s progress against their project plan (scope, cost, schedule, performance and safety); risk response; supplier contract management; adherence to regulations and corporate policies and procedures. • Lead Project Execution – Organizing, directing, and coordinating activities and resources to support the project portfolio. • Regulatory – Review Federal, State, and Local regulations to provide technical guidance to their team in support of the project portfolio. • Timely and relevant communication with project stakeholders, including arrange and lead, or participate in routine ad-hoc meeting; ensure timely preparation and issuance of reports on status and progress. • Planning – Resource allocation for project portfolio support. • As an employee of PSE&G, you should be aware that during storm restoration and emergency spill response efforts, you might be required to perform functions outside of your routine duties and on a schedule that may be different from normal operations. As a member of the Environmental Projects & Services group, you should be aware the off-hours emergency response work will be required. **Job Specific Qualifications** **Required:** • Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Sciences, Engineering, Chemistry or Science. • Minimum six (6) years of relevant experience in environmental compliance programs, environmental engineering or consulting. • Minimum four (4) years’ experience in the Energy business, Utility operations, Environmental management, Consulting, Construction or related area. • Knowledge of Federal and State environmental regulations and compliance related to Resource Conservation and Recovery (RCRA), Toxic Substance Control Act (TSCA), Underground Storage Tanks, hazardous material transportation, and remediation, etc. • Minimum 3 years’ experience with budgeting, forecasting, cost control. • Must have or be able to obtain a valid 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER certification with current 8-hour refresher training. • Because the job requires driving to company locations and off-site assignments and events, must possess a valid driver’s license with a safe and satisfactory driver history. **Desired:** • Four (4) years of contractor oversight experience. • Two (2) years' experience in project management support role. • Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST) certification and/or related OSHA construction safety training. • Advanced degree in environmental sciences or engineering. • CHMM or PMP certification • PG or PE license **Minimum Years of Experience** 6 years of experience **Certifications** OSHA HZWOPPER **Disclaimer** Certain positions at the Company may require you to have access to Part 810-Controlled Information.
