Your Role:
The Associate Quality Control Chemist at MilliporeSigma in Milwaukee, WI conducts chemical suitability tests in accordance with guidelines of our quality management system (QMS). The tasks to be completed daily include:
Perform routine analytical tests and primary review in compliance with standardized methodologyOperate analytical equipment and software such as titration(s), spectroscopy, chromatography, etc.Document and process analytical dataPerform standard stoichiometry and unit conversionsCompare analytical data against established library(s) and product specification(s)Maintain complete and accurate records consistent with quality guidelinesSafely handle, process, route, and request stock suitability samplesPerform basic analytical problem solvingSupport general laboratory functions and routine maintenanceIdentify opportunities for quality improvement in compliance with Quality Management SystemCommunicate with relevant management and departments to ensure customer focused excellencePrioritize responsibilities in alignment with established department goalsShift hours: 2nd shift, Monday – Friday, 2:00pm – 10:30pm.
Physical Attributes:
May wear appropriate protective gear, such as respirators and chemical protective clothing, for long periods of time while performing daily tasksLifting and pushing of up to 50 pounds
Who You Are
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or other life science discipline2+ years of experience in a quality control or laboratory setting
Preferred Qualifications
Ability to succeed in a team environmentGood customer service and communications skills, both verbal and writtenBasic understanding of analytical tools and equipmentKnowledge of safe chemical handling practicesProficiency with computing chemical calculations and conversionsAbility to adapt, self-motivate, and think criticallyOrganization and time management skillsDatabase management software skillsProficiency with Microsoft Office software such as Word and ExcelBasic understanding of Data Integrity.
