Associate Roadway Discipline Manager ($10,000 Signing Bonus)
Hanson, an employee-owned firm celebrating its 70th anniversary, is seeking an **Associate Roadway Discipline Manager** , focused on overseeing roadway design projects in Illinois, Missouri and potentially other regions. The role involves working with multidisciplinary design teams to deliver a variety of transportation projects for clients such as local governments and state transportation departments. Key Responsibilities: + **Team Management** : Manage and mentor roadway design staff across multiple locations, ensuring workload is balanced and projects are delivered on time and within budget. + **Collaboration** : Work with project managers and clients (e.g., local governments, state agencies) to develop project scopes, identify opportunities, and track project progress. + **Design and Technical Oversight** : Oversee roadway design tasks, including the preparation of design calculations and construction documents for projects involving highways, streets, bridges, culverts, storm sewers, intersections, multiuse paths, and traffic control plans. + **Client Interaction** : Engage with clients to discuss ongoing and upcoming projects, contributing to project pursuits and business development. + **Project and Staff Coordination** : Ensure that resources are allocated appropriately, assist with project scheduling, and track backlog and staff utilization. Qualifications: Technical Skills: + Experience with **IDOT and/or MODOT** standards, municipal and local government transportation projects, and complex geometric roadway designs. + Proficiency with design software like **Microstation/PowerGeopak/Inroads (ORD or SS10)** is desirable. + Strong commitment to **quality control procedures** . Soft Skills: + Strong communication abilities, especially in explaining technical concepts to engineers, clients, and the public. + Ability to **mentor** and manage junior to mid-level engineers and staff across multiple office locations. + Effective relationship-building with internal and external stakeholders. Education/Experience: + **Bachelor’s or Master’s degree** in transportation/traffic engineering or civil engineering. + **10+ years of progressive roadway engineering experience** . + **Professional Engineer (PE) license** in Illinois and/or Missouri or the ability to obtain one within 6 months.
