Job Title: Associate Scientist
Job Description

As an Associate Scientist, you will be responsible for driving cutting-edge analytical support impacting the attribute sciences team within process development. This largely laboratory-based position involves supporting lab start-up activities through buffer preparation, glass washing, and lab readiness at the new North Carolina site. You will perform method transfers for various analytical techniques and require a strong theoretical understanding and hands-on experience in separations, such as liquid chromatography and capillary electrophoresis. Exposure to additional assays like ELISA, qPCR, and SoloVPE is encouraged.

ResponsibilitiesMonitor or follow established experimental design and protocols to perform routine tasks and studies to obtain reproducible and reliable results with limited supervision.Plan, monitor, conduct, analyze, and record experiments, providing interpretation of data.Effectively transfer experimental methods from literature to the lab and make modifications as necessary.Develop and implement new protocols with moderate review.Engage coworkers in scientific discussions.Communicate data and interpretation to the workgroup.Develop systems to ensure quality data.Utilize standard laboratory equipment and major laboratory instruments/techniques.Trouble-shoot equipment and experimental difficulties.Contribute to internal/external reports, papers, presentations, regulatory documents, invention disclosure submissions, and/or patents.Participate in department-wide support efforts such as safety, recruiting, and committees.Train staff and/or supervise others as needed.Coordinate and organize resources needed to complete tasks.Understand when to seek input and when to make independent decisions.Perform buffer preparation and general lab housekeeping, including glassware washing and stocking.Document results in electronic lab notebooks and verify data.Essential SkillsStrong theoretical understanding and hands-on experience in separations (liquid chromatography and capillary electrophoresis).Proficiency in buffer preparation and general lab housekeeping.Experience in documenting results in electronic lab notebooks and data verification.Degree in Biology, Biochemistry, or Analytical Chemistry.Additional Skills & QualificationsExposure to additional assays such as ELISA, qPCR, and SoloVPE.Experience in a biopharmaceutical working environment.Work Environment

This is a lab-based position located at the new North Carolina site. The role involves working with standard laboratory equipment and major laboratory instruments/techniques. The environment emphasizes safety, collaboration, and scientific discussion.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $27.00/hr.
