The Challenge

You'll be part of a passionate team of 19 colleagues in the Seed Health Operations lab. As an Associate Scientist, you'll play a crucial role in ensuring that our Seed Health Test Protocols are sufficiently suitable for high-volume Seed Health Lab Testing. You work closely with our Seed Health Quality Development department to ensure that our lab test protocols are compliant, suitable for high-volume testing and are the leaders in the industry. Does our Seed Health Operations require some extra hands on the operational Seed Health test executions, then you are more than happy to roll up your sleeves and get it done. Next to this you also oversee the quality of our third party vendor labs and understand the test data they provide to us. Your main responsibilities are:

Serve as the link between method development and routine operational QC labs to validate and implement new protocols and method improvements.Provide data analysis and reports of laboratory and testing activities to support new test implementation and improvements and provide peer review of new and existing protocols.Maintain expertise in the testing processes to ensure that it is conducted in accordance with the Syngenta protocols and the accrediting body for lab tests.Validate and monitor third party lab testing locations and esure compliance and performance of methods and results.Provide technical support and analysis in making quality decisions related to inventory disposition that is compliance with Syngenta’s risk management policies, standards, and KPIs. Support staff training programs to support staff cross training across lab methods and ensure HSE compliance within each process and collaborate with regional counterparts to maintain global standardization of methods.Conduct the testing on seeds in the laboratory to meet demand levels and ensure optimum capacity is met.Support complaint and claims investigations as determined by method demands for samples. Communicate sample test results and maintain accurate records.Participate in comparative testing activities as part of Syngenta, and accreditating organization activities.

Qualifications

Your Profile

Minimum of 5 years of experience in the relevant fieldA Bachelors or MSc in Seed science & technology /biology, Seed /plant physiology, or related & relevant scientific discipline.Docotal degree/PhD in the relevant field will be advantageStrong project management and stakeholder communication skillsExcellent data analysis abilities and proficiency with Excel (additional data tools a plus!)Fluency in English (Dutch is a nice bonus)
