The Site Reliability Engineer will work as part of a dynamic group dedicated to creating solutions that will achieve highly available and resilient applications. You will collaborate with business partners and application development teams in constructing application and platform monitoring solutions, responding to incidents, and finding opportunities for improvements through automation. Additional opportunities may include:

Balancing problem solving, solution engineering, and coding/scripting Preventing problems by improving observability, monitoring solutions, metrics, and system design Collaborating with business and technical partners to identify root cause, resolution prioritization, and quality improvement opportunities Coordinating maintenance activities, such as Stress Tests, Disaster Recovery Tests, and Certificate Renewals What you have What you will get out of the program

This full-time role will also take part in the nine-month NERD (New Employee Recruitment and Development) program that blends on-the-job experience with an extensive training curriculum that covers tools, technologies, processes, and soft skills required to be successful in Schwab Technology Services. By pairing the curriculum, on-the-job experience, and web-of-support from others, NERDs are well prepared to succeed in their role which sets the table for future opportunities at Schwab.

As a member of the NERD program, you will be working as an Associate Software Development Engineer on a small team to build the next generation of Schwab technology capabilities. You will be involved fully in the Software Development Lifecycle as you receive and evaluate feature requests, identify the best solution to implement features, code, test, and deploy changes. While coding will be part of your day-to-day workload, you will also be intently involved in the technology planning that will serve Schwab’s clients to be better equipped to own their financial future. We are interviewing for front-end, back-end, and full-stack positions across Schwab Technology Services.

 What you haveUndergraduate or graduate degree in Computer Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or related discipline with a graduation date of June 2025 or earlier and/orWorkforce training certifications through coding bootcamps with a graduation date of June 2025 or earlierAbility to start full-time with the program on June 9, 2025Knowledge and experience with technologies such as Windows 2012/2016 operating systems, Windows infrastructure, SQL, IIS, Active Directory, PowerShell, and Server administration; scripting experience, a plusFamiliarity with coding languages/frameworks such as C#, .NET framework, ASP.NET development, jQuery, JavaScript, and JavaScript libraries such as backbone.js and require.js, AJAX, and HTML/CSSExperience with a software development IDE (Integrated Development Environment) such as Visual StudioUnderstanding of Agile/Scrum developmentConceptual understanding or working knowledge of Web Content Management Systems, a plusExperience using Keynote and Gomez to monitor website performance and availability, a plusStrong interpersonal, analytical, problem solving, and organizational skillsAbility to independently work as a contributing member in a high-paced and focused teamGood verbal and written communication skillsInventiveness and eagerness to work with experimental technologyDemonstrated leadership potentialPassion and interest in solving problems applying innovation and experimentation
