GDIT seeks an Associate Software Engineer to join our team developing the Naval Integrated Tactical Environmental System - Next Generation (NITES-Next) program. Secret Clearance Preferred.
As an Associate Software Engineer for our NITES-Next program, you will be working on the Navy's premier suite of software tools for the distribution, display and analysis of meteorological and oceanographic data and it's impact on Navy systems. This includes a web-based React JS user interface running in the Chromium Framework, JBoss Application Server, PostgreSQL RDBS with Post GIS extension, and GeoServer Geospatial Information System (GIS). Current work includes refactoring the system to support deployment in an OpenShift based containerized architecture built through the Navy's Overmatch Software Armory (OSA) DevSecOps software factory. We implement for target deployments on Windows Laptops, LINUX VM Based Ship Hosting Environments, Ashore Cloud-based deployments in LINUX VM, and Containerized Deployments.
Our customer is in San Diego, CA, however our development team members work from home at locations across the United States.
In this role, a typical day will include:
Working as a development team member of our Scrum Agile development team. The team includes both new developers and highly skilled software architects. We meet daily for standup meetings and have continuous availability through MS Teams. You will be assigned refined and detailed software development tasks for the design, implementation, dev test of JavaScript and Java backend web applications. You will make use of virtual machines on your assigned laptop, and our cloud hosted continuous integration environment to develop software. In our Scrum process we seek to refine all assigned tasks to small well defined user stories that on average take 1-2 days to complete. This level of refinement and detail helps developers better understand their tasks and productively complete one well defined small task at a time.
Qualifications:
Must be a US Citizen - A DoD Secret clearance preferably to start.
Ability to obtain a DOD Secret Clearance
BA/BS (or equivalent experience) in computer science
0-3 years of experience in software development
Languages: Java, JavaScript (school based experience - 3 years)
Container based software development (0-3 years)
JBoss Application Server (0-3 years)
Ability to communicated clearly and concisely to describe technical problems and solutions.

Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) Web Services: Web Map Service (WMS), Web Coverage Service (WCS), Web Feature Service (WFS)
Experience or knowledge of configuring DevSecOps pipelines
