One of Lockheed Martin Commercial Civil Space’s most successful programs is Orion, a partially reusable crewed spacecraft used in NASA’s Artemis program, designed for Moon to Mars missions. NASA and its partners are developing the foundational systems needed for long-term exploration at the Moon for the benefit of all with NASA’s Artemis campaign. The Orion Program is seeking software developers to support the Artemis III & IV missions, due to several contractual updates with NASA that will update Orion’s simulation software capabilities to enable FSW and mission verification. Following the Artemis III mission that will land the first people near the Moon’s South Pole, astronauts on Artemis IV will live and work in humanity’s first lunar space station, Gateway, which will enable new opportunities for science and preparation for human missions to Mars. The mission will bring together an intricate choreography of multiple launches and spacecraft dockings in lunar orbit, and will feature the debut of NASA’s larger, more powerful version of its SLS (Space Launch System) rocket and new mobile launcher.

In this role you will:
• Work full software lifecycle impacts for updating Orion simulation software to properly interface with to SLS Block 1B upgrade, Co-Manifested Payloads (CPLs), and Gateway; including software systems engineering support, requirements, software design, implementation (code & unit test), CI/CD support, integration and verification testing, and validation.
• Contribute on a highly motivated, collaborative, and dedicated simulation software (SSW) team who specifically support the Artemis III & IV missions.
• Incorporate lessons learned from prior Orion missions to adopt new efficiencies that can be leveraged for Artemis IV SSW development & processes
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, aerospace, or related equivalent engineering degree.
Previous software development experience.
Experience with python scripting and C++ development.
Experience with Linux platform.
Familiarity with overall software life cycle to include Systems Engineering, implementation, verification and validation, and HW/SW integration.
Ability to work in a dynamic team environment, and bolster team culture based on your active team participation.
Effective and pro-active interpersonal communication skills with peers and with program leadership.
Ability to embrace a growth mindset.
Understanding of network protocols and Linux based network configuration and routing.
Desired Skills:
Experience with container creation/delivery/execution.
Any experience with QEMU and/or other machine emulators.
Familiarity with Agile and DevOps processes and culture (inclusive of Atlassian tools like Jira and Confluence)
Experience with automated software tests and continuous integration systems
Experience with remote virtual machine or containerized build environments
Familiarity with multiple Platform (Linux, Unix, MS Windows)

Ability to Work Remotely: Part-time Remote Telework: The employee selected for this position will work part of their work schedule remotely and part of their work schedule at a designated Lockheed Martin facility. The specific weekly schedule will be discussed during the hiring process.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 9x80 every other Friday off
