Associate Software Engineer
Job Summary:

We are responsible for the end-to-end digital and physical Guest experience for all technology & digital-led initiatives across the Attractions & Entertainment, Food & Beverage, Resorts & Transportation, and Merchandise lines of business as well as other initiatives including MyDisneyExperience and Hey, Disney!

The Associate Software Engineer will play a crucial role within the Disney Experiences (DX) team, overseeing the technical delivery of products for the Connected Products team across all DX. This versatile engineer and problem solver will contribute to project delivery, platform maintenance, and the development of innovative new products. Responsibilities include coding, designing innovative architectures, conducting code reviews, and collaborating with the team in the field. The Associate Software Engineer will also be directly responsible for expanding and sustaining the mobile, location services, and digital signage platforms for Walt Disney World Resort and beyond through various initiatives.

What You’ll Do

Contribute to the design and development of software fixes, enhancements, components, and new software systems and applications.

Participate in the development of components.

Develop technical solutions that meet specifications and impact future developments.

Execute assigned software development tasks and fixes using both new and existing technologies.

Write code and participate in peer reviews.

Program, test, and debug applications or fixes to existing applications.

Participate in setting the architectural direction for software development projects.

Code against the front-end technology stack and contribute to end-to-end troubleshooting.

Interact and coordinate deliverables with other technical groups in the organization.

Recommend improvements to processes, technology, and interfaces to enhance team effectiveness.

Required Qualifications & Skills  

0 - 2 years of relevant experience.

Team player, solution provider, and proactive thinker with excellent communication skills.

Manages multiple work streams with ease.

Emphasizes maintainability, scalability, and defect-free coding through well-factored code and solid CS fundamentals.

Knowledge and experience in relevant technologies, including:

Java Development

Go

Flutter

Spring, Spring Boot

Building RESTful Web Services

Source control and tools such as Git, Jenkins, Maven, CICD, etc.

JMS (Sonic, RabbitMQ)

Node/Angular

NoSQL (DynamoDB, Mongo) and RDBMS (MySQL, Oracle)

Database design

Caching technologies (Redis, memcached)

SON Messaging

JavaScript

Monitoring tools like Splunk, AppDynamics

Software Performance Optimization (memory, CPU, scaling, etc.)

Preferred Qualifications  

Experience working with BLE enablement in parks 

Experience in working with creative Product partners to bring experiential visions to life

Exhibits curious and tenacious nature, discovering new technologies and learning various new approaches for successful implementations 

Experience with Connected Products platforms & Products and various tools, platforms that reside within the organization

Required Education

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, Software, Electrical or Electronics Engineering, or comparable field of study and/or equivalent work experience
