About the Role

This role will be a technical main counterpart to customer engineering teams for the RFQ and developing projects. This role will also conduct troubleshooting, vehicle level validation, and data collection and involve developing and maintaining software platforms. Work location is in Seoul, Korea and support communication between Hyundai Motors and Harman global/local team members.



Your Team

The Sr. System Engineer will report to the Sr. Manager of Automotive division in Korea and will typically be assigned to multiple projects. 


What You Will Do

Analyze customer and internal requirements, specifications and change requests.Analyze and understand product HW design documents such as block diagrams, schematics, wiring diagrams, logic and timing diagrams, etc.Analyze and understand product SW design documents such as block diagrams, SW architecture and topology diagrams, timing and sequence diagrams, use-case charts, and detailed component specifications.Understand vehicle systems and designs and how the system interacts with other Electronic Control Units in the vehicle.Focus on system performance and optimizations throughout test and development cycles.Coordinate with System Test teams to ensure design and requirements are verified and validated.Lead Root Cause / Corrective Action process with product development teams for issues that arise during development and test.Create and present Problem-Solving report to customer with the development team’s support.Interface with Customers to be a key technical presence for project teams.Use hardware instruments for troubleshooting, product verification and vehicle-level validation including oscilloscope, programmable power meter, logic analyzer, etc.Facilitate knowledge management using tools such as confluence and JiraCommunicate with peers inside the Harman group to coordinate product development.  This includes occasional travel for training or coordination with other groups.Create, negotiate, and define scope of Amp System/SW applications with customer.Lead technical meetings with customer to represent Harman engineering team.Responds customer's technical questions as a technical contact.Support software release process, and customer technical support.Rework/Reflash parts in customer site including upgrading part software, tool script development.Support Customer Quality Audits (Proto, M/C, P1, P2).Support Customer Cyber-security audits.Joint evaluation with customer - vehicle level evaluation during development, production issue, and filed issues.

What You Need

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalentFluency in Korean is essential.Must have excellent communication skill in English (written and verbal).Working knowledge of software development processesWorking knowledge of embedded systemsWorking knowledge of automotive infotainment systems and featuresMinimum 3 years and up to 7 years’ experience in embedded system development

What is Nice to Have

Experience developing and debugging software in a real-time, embedded, multiprocessor, multi-interface environmentWorking knowledge of Vector-CAN architecture and layeringWorking knowledge of thermal/mechanical/EMC/reliability design concerns and test considerationsCreative problem-solver capable of creating and reproducing complex software defectsStrong project management and time management skillsExperience in Automotive OEM/Company more than 7years.Greater English communication skills are plus.

What Makes You Eligible

Native or equivalent level of Korean communication skills. English communication skill required.Bachelor's degree in related field. Willingness to travel up to 15-20% of the time both domestic and international.Willingness to work in an office in Seoul, Korea.Willingness for overtime, weekend work, and frequent night-time calls if it is necessary.
