Associate Systems Projects Manager/Scientific and High Vacuum Systems

The Systems Business, Americas along with the Leybold and Edwards Scientific CC have identified the high vacuum sector, to be of significant growth potential. Numerous projects have been undertaken to grow this segment, along with the growth of high vacuum chambers in the US market. As a result of increased quotation activity, the potential of increased order activity which leads to increase in commissioning high vacuum chambers it is necessary to increase our capacity to create proposals and accomplish projects . These activities involve the review, interpretation, and evaluation of the numerous specifications for all ancillary equipment which includes vacuum chambers, pump instruments and control panels.

You will contribute to the Systems Engineering and Applications support activities in the Americas, High Vacuum industry.

Main Responsibilities:

Prepare accurate detailed bill of materials along with technical specifications of parts. Prepare necessary P&ID's that meet customer requirements. Be liaison in some cases between suppliers and Senior Applications engineer. Take active role in assisting or being a project manager on specific contracts.Define, evaluates, and prepare engineering requirements, scope of work, design, and materials andequipment of small to large-scale projects related to mechanical, machinery or instruments based on customer specifications.Help maintain an accurate and extensive cost data base.Prepare cost estimates sheets to define required scope and participating in the cost estimation process to a level of accuracy such that exposure to overspend on contracts is minimized and developing selling price strategy to ensure that contacts are secured such that profit margins are maximized.Estimate realistic but challenging product lead timesWork with partners to understand commercial risk and business manager to obtain and develop commentary on customer terms and conditions.Respond promptly to clients technical and commercial queries after submission of proposals.Assist management in the preparation of sales forecasts and budgetingOnce a project is secured, collaborate with the Systems + Solutions team, including project management, supply chain, design, planning and operations to establish all project deliverables including technical submittals, project scheduling, QA/QC plan, procurement plan, etc.Follow and comply with all company standards for health and safety along with any standards in operations and execution of orders.Responsible for all project engineering activities, including detailed specification of all system components, ensuring adherence to all customer specifications and requirements, compliance with all industry standards and local regulations.Maintain all required information within the appropriate ERP system(s).Monitor project costs or adjustments, paying attention to the original margins set and advising management when deviations occur.To undertake ad-hoc project work as required.

You must occasionally lift or move up to 25 pounds. Your work will be frequent computer use. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

You will have remote flexibility after training.

Skills/Knowledge/Education:

Education:

University degree (Bachelor/Masters) in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering

Experience:

Experience in a manufacturing environment.Professional (2-5 years) with proven experience in High VacuumExperience with dry vacuum pump technology desired.Review and interpret complex specifications and lead all efforts within the organization and with major suppliers to offer technically advantageous solutions at a price and within acceptable lead times.Related commercial or business development experience advantageous.

Knowledge:

Strong technical competency in rotating equipment and several applications within the process industry.Knowledge in SAP advantageous.Excellent command of English in both writing and speaking, other languages advantageous.
