The Advanced Concepts & Technologies Group is looking for candidates who are excited to work on challenging problems in national security and join our diverse team. The group develops technology to protect our deployed sailors, soldiers, and assets against advanced threats, while enabling operations in complex maritime environments. The group’s research and development activities include concepts design, advanced algorithms development, software and hardware prototyping, experimental field-testing, and data analysis. Our team focuses on creating new capabilities through rapid prototyping of software and hardware. Of particular interest to the group is the development of advanced electronic warfare systems prototypes, advanced sensors prototypes, novel signal processing algorithms, optimization for resource allocation, and artificial intelligence to enable the development of next generation systems for fleet and surface assets defense.

Job DescriptionThe Advanced Concepts and Technologies Group works throughout the technology development cycle including the development of architectures, concepts, algorithms, software, and hardware prototypes. We are looking for systems analysts to join our team, understand our key missions, and help develop the architectures and concepts needed to solve hard problems in the National Security space. Key to success in this role will be an ability to analyze a wide range of challenging technical problems, while working with the team to frame and scope technical analysis. This analysis will include developing of physics- and engineering-based models for a wide variety of technologies related to sensors, electronic warfare systems, space systems, and crewed/uncrewed platforms. While previous experience in these systems isn’t required, the candidate must be able to leverage their strong technical background within a particular area to develop expertise across these technology areas as they learn from, and collaborate with, experts across the group and the Laboratory. In addition, the candidate will need to work with the team to help develop clear, concise briefings to place technical results in context for a wide range of audiences, ranging from DoD senior leaders to other technical subject matter experts.
Education / Qualifications:
M.S. in in Physics, Engineering, Mathematics, Aeronautics/Astronautics, or related field; Strong programming skills in any language (MATLAB, Python, Julia, C++, Java, etc.) and ability to solve complex problems. Self-motivated with a proven ability to address a broad range of problems both independently and collaboratively with highly dynamic, interdisciplinary teams.
