Associate Treasurer

Job Summary

The Associate Treasurer will report to the SVP, CFO for Drexel University. The position is responsible for day-to-day oversight of cash and treasury functions by ensuring stewardship over the cash assets and liabilities of the University by maximizing investment income, optimizing liquidity, managing risks, and streamlining processes associated with cash flows. This position manages daily cash needs, banking activities, and is responsible for debt management for the entire university. Additionally, this position will be responsible for understanding the capital budget and working with the SVP, CFO on all areas.

Essential Functions

Responsible for debt management, including new issuance and refundings. Partners with Budget Office to forecast cash flow position and manage liquidity.  Monitors and oversee various university initiatives and strategic projects as they relate to the treasury function. Responsible for payroll accounts, overseeing staff who process ACH and wire transfers, and investing short-term cash. Manages the university's cash including payment of liabilities and deposit of funds. Provide advice to CFO regarding future indebtedness, debt capacity and all aspects of capital budget and financial forecasting. Works with the Investment Office and Institutional Advancement on the acceptance of gifts, and working on endowment fund calculations.  Interfaces with external partners including rating agencies, banks and others.  Oversees calculation of endowment payouts under the university’s spending formula and interface with the Comptroller’s Office for posting to the ledger. Supervisory responsibilities. 

Required Qualifications

Minimum of Bachelor's Degree or the equivalent combination of education and work experience.  Please review the Equivalency Chart for additional information. Minimum of 10 years of experience in Treasury functions Experience with building cash flow forecasts, monitoring cash levels, overseeing wire transfers and other treasury functions. Exceptional judgment and attention to detail required. Strong organizational, verbal and written communications, presentation and interpersonal skills, ability to build rapport and be part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in Treasury functions, preferably in higher education institution and/or a large complex organization. Experience in capital budgeting is preferred Experience working in an academic environment and knowledge of higher education operations, policies and procedures is preferred.

Additional Information
This position is classified as Exempt, grade P. Compensation for this grade ranges from $129,850.00 to $194,770.00 per year. Please note that the offered rate for this position typically aligns with the minimum to midrange of this grade, but it can vary based on the successful candidate’s qualifications and experience, department budget, and an internal equity review.
