Our Associate Underwriters underwrite and supervise a portion of an Underwriter’s book of business, support renewal and new business development, and have the opportunity to achieve full underwriting authority.

 

Service a book of business under the direct supervision of an underwriter
Evaluate, classify, and rate each risk to determine acceptability, coverage, and pricing to prepare quotesLog applications, prepare binders, and process policies and endorsementsBind risk, post the invoice, and process technical dataScreen renewal applications and send out renewal letters; perform some of the underwriting and prepare quotes for underwriter approvalAssist with new business developmentOrder and follow up on inspections, plus handle endorsement requests and referrals for the underwriterManage relationships with retail agents and follow up on any outstanding information needed to complete the underwriting file Qualifications Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience2+ years of Underwriting support or industry experience with excess and surplus lines is preferredDemonstrated proficiency and previous experience in sales and marketing is preferredProven organization skills and ability with a strong attention to detailInterest in continued education and professional development to obtain full underwriting authorityTechnologically savvy and data driven
